I'm wondering if anyone can give me an opinion on whether my leaf springs seem ok. I've had much too much weight in the bed recently, for a good amount of time, and I can't be sure but I could swear I used to have more space in between the frame and the bumpstop. Am I right? The attached picture is with no weight in the bed on a level surface

Right I should have specified hah, 2006 Access cab TRD OR, yes all that is stock. And yeah they don't look too good do they... perhaps that's my problem? It does feel like it rides pretty rough in the back

It's possible, if that was done before I bought the truck. But I've had it for 3 years and they're the bumps I bought it with

EDIT: You guys are definitely right upon a little research, I guess they aren't stock

Timbren bumps. Springs look flat. No arch one way or another, I'd swap them out.

also the oem leafs are shit. i had the leaf recall done 6 months ago so the leafs are pretty much brand new and they barely have an arch to them.

While I have you all here, what do you think about my shocks? I know they look like poop but does that necessarily mean they're shot? How can I tell if I should upgrade?

rear shocks don't really do anything besides dampen impacts. you don't HAVE to replace them but it will ride better if you do. your leafs do all the work when it comes to loads

Can anybody tell me why one would do Timbren bumpstops over stock? I think I'm gathering that it helps to support with heavier loads?

Softer impact when the truck bottoms out, and some support when loaded.

When speaking of a Tacoma, and the question is asked..."Are my leaf springs OK?"...the answer is always..."No, they are not." If the leaf spring are factory, they are no good...even if the truck is brand new. That's the one part that Toyota can't seem to get right. At any point in their life, Tacoma leaf spring suck.

1000lbs in the bed on Deaver J66's which aren't even designed for loads and I'm close to where you are with no load
