Thanks for the tip. Just checked, and the bottom heat shield fits perfectly. It would just need to be wrapped in foil to hold water since it has a hole in the middle.

Some people never use water. I'm pretty much there too... just haven't seen a tangible difference with or without.

I am still just a grasshopper in the smoking game, so I use it. It is my craigslist game that is on point.

Just more crap to do and takes longer to heat up. Biggest benefit Ive seen is it regulates your temps a bit but once you know your rig you can do that all manually with the vents. Beginners may want to use the water pan a few times until they gather their cojones.

Ha ha, there you go. I used it too at first, until the benefit vs. hassle ratio went the other way.

Hey, since you said you're new at this, you know that the built in thermometer in the lid is as worthless as tits on a bull, right? Gotta have a good pit probe, preferably digital. Can't remember if you've been in those conversations here or not.

That one is way too far for me, and cost twice as much as the other ones. All I am waiting on is for a 22 to pop up at a killer price.

Cheapest I've seen the 18.5 in Seattle area on CL is $150.... most go for around $200 if in good shape.

$200 is also average around here for an 18. I just have no idea what is going on right now, but I like it.

I will buy them all day at $60 and flip them as long as the homies in the hood keep slanging them for that cheap.
