So far I've been happy with the way I've been treated at Team Toyota in PA. They put me in a Highlander out of the gate and I told them I really need a truck by September (deer season). They told me no problem and 2 weeks later (in July) they called and said they had a truck for me. A 17 4 door sport long bed with 135 miles on it! Wow.....only difference from my Limited is I don't have a bed cover. +1 for my Dealer!!!

I have been out of my truck for 50 days now. I was told I was 7th or 8th in line and that a few trucks have already been repaired. Mine still isn't repaired. I'm currently in my 3rd rental vehicle because enterprise keeps shuffling me around, a Mitsubishi Outlander now. It could be worse but this still absolutely sucks.

Has anyone had their Tacoma repaired and then noticed leaking afterwards? This is currently my biggest fear.

Finally bit the bullet and took my 2016 SR5 in for its 10k service. My vin is on the recall list and I also received a letter from Toyota. I've attached three pics of my diff and the dealers response. They did nothing

i took my '16 TRD Sport for 10k, was on the recall list and mines was weeping WAY less than that. They kept mine, told me they ordering parts and im going on 3 weeks.

the only thing consistent with this whole recall thing is inconsistency.

Mine was very similar to yours. Also a '16 SR5. The kept my truck for 75 days.

It's been a week since getting my truck back. No seeping as of now.

Your case is considered a leak based on Toyota's own definition for this recall.

I have asked them to buy my truck back. They cannot legally keep my truck for more than 30 days without agreeing to buy it back for my original purchase price.

Darn, one day short of the magic 80 days and I get a phone call, my parts are in and they will do everything to get me on the rode today. Gaskets and seals only. They called at 5:30 to tell me my truck is ready. I had to race over to Enterprise on the busiest street in the city, with rode construction of course. Got there with a couple of minutes to spare, they had all the lights turned off, but they took the Ram back, no charge and then took me over to Toyota, of course, I forgot the spare key, will have to go back across town tomorrow morning. Enterprise has treated me great, even finding the Ram upgrade. My truck was indeed ready, no RTV that I could see, they even washed it, of course, it started to poor as I was heading home, got to laugh, the Toyota gods are spitting on me! I will keep an eye on the differential over the coming weeks. Oh, and no crank sensor, they said they will wait until one is in stock and I need the next service, so we will see.

How does the Taco compare to the Ram I drove as a loaner? It is like getting out of a muscle car and into a Porsche! Sure when you punch the gas paddle on the V8 it really goes, but when you go to stop or turn, you feel like you are skippering a supertanker! So, maybe I will keep my Toy Taco!

I went to the dealership for my maintenance and they said I was on the list, but they didn't have the parts yet. What a bummer.

I wonder how long this fiasco is going to last. Some dealers literally have 100's of trucks on the lot. Parts after 3 1/2 months are barley trickling in with no relief in sight. I bet there are more trucks coming in than there are going out repaired, which Toyota did not account for. They originally said less than 1% will be affected. Now there spokesperson says 5% which we know is going to be much higher and the fact non recall trucks are exhibiting the same issue.

Gaskets seals and bolts are easy to make, in fact production has not stopped which tells you they have plenty, they are simply trickling them out so they don't affect production numbers.

Since this is a recall, class action won't work, and or Lemon Laws. The only thing that will work is mass media, setup a Facebook account, youtube, etc. Toyota Failed Recall hostage sites, etc. News sites motor these channels, and get enough activity it will get noticed.

Tacoma Trucks sales are still strong, thus why Toyota doesn't give a rats ass

    Morning yual,

I had my 2016 TRD 4WD in last week to the purchasing dealer for several items. The diff recall, an auto fluid check, a updated flash on the shift points, and the crank sensor.
    1. The diff on my truck had not been leaking, and I had previously checked the level. I could just touch it with my pinky. So they torqued the nuts only. I could see the socket marks on the tighten side of the nuts.
    2. For the check of the trans fluid, I had previously talked with the Toyo customer care folks and had a case#, which, turned the tide on getting it checked, as they were balking about it. They said it was fine and I talked with the tech about it after I asked to. He was very amiable and chatty, and my gentle quizzing showed he knew the drill.
An inspection of the plugs by me later, showed that only the overflow had been removed. I had previously painted them. So I think at least it was checked. I plan to do the drill myself at some time.
    3. The trans shift point flash, did indeed bring the trans performance to life. No more hunting in the higher gears and it holds longer on the up-shifts. It will still downshift when I just want it to coast, but that's usually only on a long downhill with gentle braking. It's much better and I can live with it.
When talking to the tech about this, he hinted that the lazy trans was all about MPG. Which is what I had suspected myself.
    4. A new crank position sensor was put in. Truth be told, I don't know what that did for the truck or why. I'll look it up.

All this at NC to me.
Call Toyota Corporate first if you want the fluid in your auto trans checked. That call and a case# saved me the time they would have charged for this. They stated somewhere around 1.5 hrs. which I don't see as necessary. It should take about 15-20 minutes if the truck is cold?

    Charles
