Crazy for a winch that is supposed to be 100% waterproof lol

I would have assumed the enclosure was waterproof. I read that the X2O could be ran completely submerged for the entire serviceable life. One of the reasons I bought it.

Lol, true. I'll probably go ahead and plan to relocate under the hood when I get around to replacing that switch.

I know. Looked into it when I first installed, didn't relocate because I thought it was waterproof. I'll make some cables at work :D

I requested winch info from 4wheel parts. Comparing smittybilt and warn. The info they mailed me on smittybilt x20 said "submersable operation for up to 30 minutes continuous use"

Yet ANOTHER reason to drive around the lake

After 2 weeks of making phone calls, looking at websites, reading magazine winch "shootouts" etc, I don't see much of an advantage one way or the other between comparable models of Smittybilt and Warn. I've found prices on both to be within pennies of each other. Warn "suggested retail" is a lot higher, but several sources will discount to same price. In the end, I'm picking brand/model that "fits" the bumper the best according to someone who's tried 'em both. (Access to controls)

I know guys who killed Warn winches. There's a guy here in town with a trashed Smittybilt. So they're both breakable. My personal experience with winches involves 3 Warn's.....all GOOD experience. 2 of the 3 were tortured and never flinched.

Long story short, nothing negative to say about either. The 12k Warn is same money as 12k Smittybilt with the best prices I can get with both. Besides the fact I'm hearing the Warn fits the bumper I'm getting a little "cleaner", there's a dealer in Louisville that's a Warn warranty station. I guess we'll have a chance to compare.....

Smittybilt went up (with synthetic) apparently.
Warn has a few "deals" going and apparently a huge mark up through retailers. Beat the mark up and they start looking better..

Either/or in the $900 range by the time I get em to the door.

I'm good with either, but the warranty center just 20 miles away sorta helps the cause for the Warn.

Warn zeon compares to gen 2 x20. You're showing zeon platinum. That's in a league all it's own.

$1079. Suggested retail on the zeon 12k. Old prices....with steel cable. Old stock. Can't even order it from Warn with steel cable now
The one I'm getting will be synthetic. Not getting it through 4wheel parts.

I can get it locally for $880. With accessory kit. (Tree strap/snatch block)

I was quoted $850 on the x20 delivered. Not from 4wheel parts.... I guess if I was buying the Smittybilt it would be through 4wheel parts.....freight or pick up would still add another $50 or $75.....

Long story short, I'd still pay more for the Warn if I had to. They're a tough act to beat. This will most likely be the last winch I'll ever buy. Not gonna cut corners now. Sticking with what has worked over the years.

Warn is about to introduce a line of Chinese built winches. They will be amongst the cheapest on the market. Rather not see em try to compete with imports with a discount product. Waters down their rep..... Current line is US built.

That sounds funny....on a Japanese brand truck..

Would you mind passing on the instructions, my wireless quit working after I took the truck for a swim in Kentucky lake during the Turkey Bay trip.

FYI, Matt if you see this I won't be at LBL for the Eclipse. Going to be watching it at home with the family.

@mwc273 Ok so... Are you saying I am going to have to cut and weld.. Guess I need to get another lift then... damn it and I wanted to save money, but guess I have to go the more expensive route... Because I don't know anyone that can do that properly.

All lifts will require a CMC for any tire over 265/75 on any wheel size. Best I know.

@dirty deeds well I have a 3'' PRO COMP Lift not spacer PRO COMP COILs front and rears with a AAL... and I didn't need to cut just need to trim the plastic from the front wheel well and needed to take the mud flaps too in the front.

If your current lift runs 285 without rub, then why switch to OME?

And you see the rub when offroad, so I'm told. I'm still on stock size tires lol! No rub here
