And to think I have unplugged and replugged that connector at least 4-5 times, knowing full and well what it was for, and still it never crossed my mind to leaving it open. Ha ha.

I'm just gonna put this here first before I drop it on the 1st Gen thread...

My UCAs are squeaky as hell. Seems like I can only get a couple thousand miles out of them before they quickly sound like a flock of angry crows.

I've been using the Super Lube that I've heard rave reviews for, and I'm not sure it's worth it. I know @Blackdawg just uses moly grease, as well as @Star-Lord. Maybe I'll try that. I also have some Lucas Red N Tacky, which I've heard good things about.

I just don't want to have to tear the UCAs down any more often than I have to, and I definitely don't want to listen to them squeak like they have been. Beyond those bushings, the truck is actually pretty quiet for what it is.

I don't think it would be super difficult and plenty of people have done it. I guess if I'm going to go through the work of a swap I'd like it to be unique and better than the 5vz. Not that there is anything really wrong with it.

As for UCA squeak @Squeaky Penguin has been struggling with this. My spc squeaked for the first 5000 miles then stopped. It was on my drive east so I never bothered looking into it and now they are quite.

I'm gonna try that then. Shit is cheaper too.
I get that. I was just thinking along the lines of staying relatively 'stock'. The 2JZ would be cool too. Is that the 4.7?

Brett's UCAs never squeaked until his coil bucket gusset install. I think mine may be a combo of lesser quality UCAs (All-Pro) and/or Super Lube not cutting it as a lubricant.

I'm not actually sure on the litre but I don't think it's that much. It's a v6 with twin turbos!:burnrubber:

Oh shit! Maybe that's the Supra motor... That would be insane on an LT setup!

2jz is a 3.0l straight six twin turbo from the MKIV supra and run in lexus cars.

Very different power curve. the 5vz has almost all its torque by 2000rpm. Nice for a truck.

    2jz would still be fun.

BUT for the cost you could easily swap a 5.3L LS in..actually cheaper. And its not boosted and a simplier motor and weighs the same(or less if you get an L33 aluminum block). Be way more torque. Easy to make 400hp NA as well with cheap mods(heads/cam/intake) which would be way more reliable then a 2jz.

The 2uzfe is the 4.7L v8 in 1st gen tundras and 4th gen 4runners and lexus stuff. Real tall motor. Need a BL to run it.

Damn never knew the 5vz reached peak torque that quickly. That would be nice compared to the 3rz where it's 3800rpm stock.

With the 2jz I'd imagine you can tune the first turbo to spool almost instantly and have boost right off idle. But just the idle torque of the LS would be nice

Yeah the stock twins can be made to work well. You'd end up with a JDM motor most likely so the first step would be to get a pair of USDM twins..then you can upgrade them for around 1800...

thats the HUGE down side to the 2jz and what ultimately made me decide on the LS swap. Cost. 2jz parts are insanely over priced. For everything. Just getting one is pricey too. Hell for the price of just a 2jz you can have a 400-450hp 5.3L.

Even so. The 5vz is a great motor in these trucks. And aftermarket support for boost for it is pretty great now with it being easy to turbo or go the blower route even. Though my adventures in this route has been...mixed. IT very much depends on the year of motor you get with what ECU you end up.

thus the apeal of the LS again, very easy to upgrade and tune. Cheap to find, cheap to maintain. Reliable.

Cxracing makes bolt in motor mounts now too. So half the work is done. The tricky part that i haven't figured out yet with the CX mounts is the exhaust. But thats always the tricky part with a V8 in our trucks.

Peak torque yes. which is 220ft/lbs.

    and 2000rpm...its at almost 200ft/lbs.

I can't find the dyno sheet that actually shows this..but i will

straight six motors are sweet...however they are also very long.

You can barely fit a 2jz in a tacoma and you need to use twin push Electric fans as a mechanical one won't work. Doubt a big chevy straight 6 will fit.

Well, now that's it's fucking August, I finally got the RTT back on the truck. Added two mounting rails to make it bomber, since I'm not a small human.

Also, I have a special lady friend now, so it never hurts to have more structure for, uh... activities, right?

    :D

I REALLY want to get my rack idea from concept to reality. I think I can shave at least 5 inches or so and still be able to pull my dirty five spare out the side of the rack...

eventually you come to that point..but gotta lay down the law at first to make em realize how important the truck/camping relationship is :p

Then it'll become a justification and reason to upgrade the truck at some point..

"you know honey, if i bought this suspension the truck would ride a lot better.." haha
