I think that's what I'm going to do. I don't really like the idea of cutting into factory wiring harnesses

Ditto. Plus, if I sell the truck I can hang onto the factory one for stock and sell the PnL.

I also went another step further and put on of those security brackets on the hinge part of the gate.

There's a guy on here that makes some nice billet clamps for the tailgate. Can't remember who though.

That's pretty slick. I'm more worried about the contents of the bed being stolen than the actual tailgate but I might have to pick that up sometime regardless.

I built a pseudo sub-floor/platform for the bed of the truck out of treated 3/4" plywood and 2x6s. I'll have to take pics the next time I take it out, but the gist is I cut it to fill the entire bed above the wheel wells. Then I cut it down the middle (tailgate to cab) and added a couple of HD hinges underneath so it will fold in the middle for removal. To keep it from collapsing I added a 2x10ish board on the bottom that flips down that supports both center edges of the platform. To secure it I added two eye bolts on the ends near the outer edges of the tailgate and used a couple of turnbuckle hooks to tighten it down.

The overall purpose is it secures everything underneath so long as I lock my tailgate (enter PnL), but I also use it for hauling full 4x8 sheets of plywood and drywall, it gives me a large shelf for camping (I can store stuff underneath) while I use the platform for sleeping (I have a Bestop so I need something to secure stuff). It is also sturdy enough that I have loaded it down with camping gear, and myself (about 400 lbs total) and it didn't flinch. An unexpected benefit is I was actually seeing slightly better gas mileage as well when my Bestop is off.

    Scratches, dents, lots of squeaks.
was planning a trip to RRG next weekend. Sat overnight or just a day trip. Doesn't seem to be much interest right now so might not happen. Let me know if anyone interested.

Any of you guys want to buy some relentless fab bed bars? They were originally Roman's. I decided to go a different direction and don't think I'll need these anymore
