This weekend I continued with my rust restoration. I bought a 2006 DCSB TRD OR earlier this year and it came with a new frame. Of course being in the NE saltbelt it still had some problem areas. After a lot of research I found some products that would work for my situatio. This weekend I tackled all the minor rust spots on welds underneath the cab. I thought I was just gonna spray paint Eastwood Rust Encapsulator on everything but went with Corroseal, and it's now my new favorite rust fighting product. I highly recommend it.

    Before:
    IMG_7030.jpg
It looked like this in a lot of places. I took a wire wheel and Dremel to knock off all the loose rust.

    Corroseal:
    IMG_7033.jpg
Paint it on white and it turns black when it's done converting the rust. After
24 hours you have a paintable hard surface free of rust!

    Taped up:

Not cutting any corners...I don't want overspray on my beauty!

I'll be honest I was a bit nervous that the underside of my truck would look splotchy. Even though no one will see it it would still bother me. The rustoleum gloss grey enamel matched amazingly and I'm really happy with how it looks underthere now. I'll be able to see where I need to touch up next year no problem.

Next week: grind/sand the outside edge of the pinch weld, rust concert, paint with factory colors!

I'd like to see a side shot of the bed bars. Your mounting plates on the left side look completely different that the ones I had on mine.

Now that I've caught up on 50+ pages of reading from being MIA for a week or so, I'll give you the run-down. First picture is from last night. The lighting was a lot better in person and I should've picked a darker focus point, but went for food in downtown Reading MA with some friends. Love the main drag there... Super photogenic!
    IMG_3716.jpg

After that, I installed some new headlights and fog lights (the brightest f*cking lights I've ever installed) that were brought to my attention on a certain
Enthusiasts Facebook page. Here's the link: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01MXMIRY6/ref=mp_s_a_1_16… and here's the promo code to get them for $30 a set: K6QRX9VY
Hope it still works because I really like these lights. The entire OEM rubber cup with bulb comes out. For the fog lights, I'd take off the old gasket and use it because the new gasket is too thick for the bulb to lock into the assembly. Also, a little filing is required to fit the small philips screw holding the LED into the fan assembly. Spin them around as you like to move the throw pattern. Only downside that I'm working on figuring out is why my DRLs now won't turn on. Parking lights are fine and yes, the engine is running. I'll update if I learn anything about that one...IMG_3721.jpg IMG_3722.jpg
