    Yes.

Welp. It's called a VeeGo and it's made by a company called Ride Scoozy(.com). It's got a 500 Watt hub motor and 20" x 4" tires. It can be propelled via 5 different levels of pedal assist or just plain old motorcycle style twist throttle. Top speed is somewhere around 23mph(flat ground/weight dependent) and will do that for a good 55-60 minutes on throttle alone and can be extended well beyond that with varying results depending on what level of assist and how much you actually pedal. It'll climb a little under its own power, but you will get much better results if you help it even a little by pedaling on steeper grades. You can also adjust the torque curve to a degree if you purchase it with the LCD computer/display thing.

I've ridden it across about 4" deep sand, but I think it really depends on the type sand you're on. It doesn't have a huge amount of torque with the 500W motor, however a 750W version that is in development will solve that and add a good 7-8mph on top. It does great on harder packed trails and gravel roads as long as you know its limits.

I love the damn thing. It's obviously no purpose built, pedal assist MTB, but those aren't these, either. Two completely different animals. This is something that - if you were at Zion National Park - could get you from the campgrounds to the entrance of the narrows and back with ease and without having to sit next to anyone on the shuttle. Haha.

Interesting ... I know that eBikes are somewhat controversial in the purist cycling world but they are fun and practical. Full disclosure: I work part-time in an eBike shop. I don't own one (yet) but have gotten a lot of satisfaction hauling stuff on an electric cargo bike, cruising through town on an electric city bike, and tackling twisty steep (up!) singletrack on 150mm travel full-sus eMTB's. Fitting that folder into the back of an AccessCab is pretty nice.

I got bored and took the thing out and rode around for over an hour along the beach last night just for kicks and barely broke a sweat. It definitely does like to have a little help going uphill instead of working purely under its own power but doesnt require much. I guess thats the idea behind the pedal assist concept. You help it and it helps you. This thing is a hoot. Can't wait to try the 750W.

@LaRue Shooter it looks like you have a Bafang power train which is pretty reputable, maybe one notch below the mid-drive Bosch, Yamaha or Brose setups used by Haibike, Trek, Specialized etc. Not sure how yours is spec'ed, but the pedal assist on the brands I mention respond to bike (wheel) speed, pedaling cadence, and applied torque on the pedals, measuring these variables about 1000 times per second, and then feeding in power based on those plus the level of pedal assist that's selected. Note that in California eBikes are limited to 750W max (though those ratings are somewhat variable .... peak power, nominal power, sustained power etc) and either 20 or 28 mph, with usage restrictions based on speed and whether equipped with a throttle. 20 mph bikes with no throttle (i.e. pedal assist only) can be ridden anywhere bicycles are allowed unless the local jurisdiction prohibits them and posts the prohibition at trailheads. The "no motorized bicycle" signs do not apply to compliant eBikes; California law explicitly distinguishes between an eBike and a motorized bike, even if the latter is electric but greater than 750W, no pedals, not speed limited to 20/28 etc.

@dman100 That is GREAT info. Thanks! I guess I know why it won't go any faster, even though it clearly has a little left to give up around that 20mph mark. I love using the twist throttle, but the PA is more fun. This, however would not perform well on our local trails. Too steep and too technical. My thinking is out in the desert or around camp. Unfortunately I got my hands on it a little too late in the season to use it out there.

Oh, and I think this uses a simple crank arm sensor for pedal assist. Pretty rudimentary compared to what you described, but it seems to work fine? I don't know, I'm still enjoying the novelty of the thing.

    Thanks again! Awesome info.

Our shop sells Haibike, Stromer, Pedego, and Xtracycle eBikes, plus non-electric Bromptons. Brompton will be announcing their upcoming eBike later this month.

For anyone looking for a hitch rack that doesn't interfere with the tailgate, the Thule T2 Classic works perfectly. It's almost like they designed it with the Tacoma in mind. With the rack in the flat position, you can drop the tailgate and it doesn't hit. If you tilt it down, you can open the tailgate with two bikes on it. The T2 Pro does not work, it hits the tailgate.

Selling my Yakima HoldUp2 as I got sick of dealing with the hitch extender I had and found the raise/lower action bulky. It also had two pins to drop/raise it, the T2 classic has a much easier lever mechanism and IMO a much better rack to deal with, though less substantially built.

Finally made my decision about which bike mounting solution to buy, now that summer is half over lol. I was on the fence between a tailgate pad, 1up hitch rack, or the pipeline rack.

Ordered up a Pipeline bike rack last night, hope it works out for me and is not junk. I wanted a rack to keep the bikes in the bed, not many racks work great with Lefty, thru axle, mid fat and fat bikes, plus the standard 700c and 29er stuff etc, so this gives me flexibility

I'll have to check them out. I was thinking about getting something beside a quad to get to my hunting spots.

Went out for a ride today in Blackwater State Forest. Florida makes it miserable to ride with the heat.

Got 24 miles in today. Rode from Deer Valley to Canyons via the Wasatch Crest. Finished on a high note! Just kidding, I rode the blue DH trail next to it cuz Im still joey AF and double down is pure gnar.

Actually realized that I started mountain biking 1 year ago today!

I like that set up it looks simple and clean. Does it just attach off the bed rails? Have a link to where it can be found? Using ratchets right now and it's not the best option
