    How old are you?
If you're old like me, prolly cheaper to keep buying ice.
If not, then that's a lot of ice to buy.
That being said I'll be going with a 12v, low amp draw, compressor fridge in the camper, fuck that ice shit.

Im 25, well 26 in a month so potential for early bday present. My justification for buying a nice one is I don't plan on ever needing to buy another unless its to small for a future family (scary thought).

Plus I am thinking I can write one off on my taxes for a work expensive.

    Thank you kind ones.

Yes, Asher and i knocked the trail out. Long fucking day....22 miles of mostly 0-3mph takes forever!

Cool trail, glad we got it done before the UTVs get it closed for good.

Rough day for this beater...3 strikes in two days, i should probably take it easy. But yes, truck ran fine other than getting a little hot on one of the long climbs with ac on. Turned it off and fine. I shut it off at the top, went to restart it and it idled rough and low and shut off. Air filter is pretty new and clean. Left it for 30 minutes and it was like it never happened.

I'll try and get a trip update in my thread shortly since I'll be on vacation shortly. :spy:

Fridge. Totally worth it. Really changes the way Troy think about storing food on the trip. Don't have to worry about water getting into food.

    Right, crucial lol

If I did get a cooler I would have to find one of those baskets for setting things above the ice to keep water out of it. That isthe worst thing ever.

Ever seen their fridge slide in person? I've been about to pull the trigger on it for my ARB but not seeing any reviews.

Have not seen their slide in person, have seen the fridges in person though, saw one Saturday actually. Even the wife liked it and thought it was a good idea and something to look into, if I did pull the trigger on one, I would be making my own slide.

I have a Dometic fridge, it has served me well. They are extra sensitive to weak batteries so that could be a good thing. I have the small 35 qt but I'm upgrading size to a 61qt to better suit my family camping needs. I'll be able to have a little comparison soon here as my new fridge is an Edgestar. I'll do some draw tests and stuff.

So far, the Edgestar beats the Dometic on 12v cool down from 80°.

So, in the Army we never shut off a truck "hot" in the field, we always keep it running so cooling system keeps going even when stopping for while. Funny I still remember this because I spent most of my time flying.

Anyone who has wheeled with me probably noticed I never shut the Taco down on trail.

@Star-Lord or anyone, thoughts on this practice?

Never been in the military but I never shut off a hot vehicle either unless continued running contributes to the overheating.
I keep a close eye on the engine temp thru the Ultra Gauge, if running the AC and the temp hits 200 degrees (while crawling, not a problem on the open road), I shut AC off but keep driving and it drops fairly quick.
From his description I wonder if the tranny got a little warm.

Shutting a hot engine off actually allows the temps to rise for a bit.

My guess, temperature combined with major elevation gains. His ECU likely did have time to correct for altitude combining that with his engine was likely hotter then normal on restart. Cold engine like rich mixtures to start while hot likes lean mixtures. The slow learning for altitude likely caused the vehicle to have a rich mixture for starting when it needed a lean.
