    I feel sorry for the Surfers having to surf on trash and try and compet.

    Because Surf City, USA. That's why. South side pier can get ok but I agree it's not a great location for a pro comp. keep it to trestles for Southern California.

    I got the Total Chaos, which is a uniball UCA. I'm very happy so far. I have heard they can get squeaky over time, though.

    Yep,well said!Used to enjoy the longboard myself at Salt Creek.Trestles in my opinion became more and more of the shitshow as you said in the early to mid 1990's.I'd pass on the drive with friends simply knowing what to expect or to be expected.

    The only maintenance my uniballs need is a quick spray of dry lub every once in awhile. The design keeps them clean when the suspension articulates. Some even say they don't need lube but it helps with any squeeking up front.

    Ball joints just end up tearing the boot with hard off road use and spilling that grease right out. Once the boot is torn and dirt gets inside they don't last as long either.

    With that said, I can see a uniball needing replacement more often than a ball joint so I guess that could be considered maintenance.

    Total Chaos are uniballs no?
