OBA -> On Board Air Mega Thread & BS

Well, I did all that when I assembled the whole thing. I guess I'll have to break out the Soap Suds and brush....

 

May have been mentioned here but wanted to pass on great results.

I had leaks in my OBA and redid all the connections with Loctite 7649 Primer and Loctite 545 Hydraulic/Pneumatic thread sealer.
There is a required 24 hour cure time. I did not use mine for about 32 hours.
It's a super clean seal and no leaks!

 

What'd you use initially?

Yep, loctite 545 is the best I've found for this.
NEW Loctite 545 20ml Thread Sealant ****I Buy Bulk So You Don't Have To****

 

White Teflon tape.

 

Some people have better luck with that than others.

 

It's always worked for me.

 

Teflon tape, then paste (as I was ill advised).

 

The 549 is good too. Thats basically the pipe dope I was talking about too

 

OK. I figured out the "leak."

The air is bleeding backwards through the compressor after it shuts off. I thought these ARBs had a built-in check valve to prevent that but I guess not. New leader hose with check valve has been ordered. Will have it tomorrow via Amazon Prime.

 

Hey all soo after a few off-road trips I've realized I need OBA asap hahahaha. Now the plan is to run front and rear ARB's but that's with a re-gear and honestly I'm not ready for all that just yet, however I am ready for OBA now to be able to air up on my own or run air tools possibly mainly for airing up tires tho. So my ?? Is can a single ARB compressor run the 2 air lockers. Can it fill 35's in a reasonable amount of time?? Can it run air tools?? My apologies I'm sure it's been answered in this "mega" thread somewhere but I have ADD pretty bad and I'll get off track in 10 minutes hahaha true story. Thanks

 

Yaaa awesome thanks for the info bud, Ya honestly I would almost be 99% sure that I would never run air tools off it more of just a curiosity

 

Hey so just another curiosity ?? Is there another compressor similar to the dual ARB that's not as $$$ ?

Didn't really find a source....just figured I could use the 36 to get out of the engine bay then conver to normal line. I was just worried about heat really.

 

Just search air leader hose and you will find sources

 

So, my ARB twin is mounted and wired to the Isolation Switch according to the diagram but I wasn't getting any power. Tapped the red/yellow wire to a wire running straight to the battery - got power for about 15 seconds then the diode on my red/yellow wire went up in flames. What happened? Suggestions?

I'll try and get some pictures tomorrow if it will help troubleshoot.

Is there a way I can wire the ARB switch with a custom harness that doesn't use the extra wires for each locker?

 

No fuse from battery to switch power?

 

No. Would that make sense? What size fuse?

If you haven't figured it out yet, electrical and me don't mix.

 

I used red wire to the top left 15A labeled IGN and the blue to the top row 3rd overfrom theleft 10A labeled Tail. These are in the fuse box to the left of the steering wheel. Your fuses for the compressor are on the hot wire coming from the battery. I am assuming you are using the switch and all provided with the compressor.
