An offer is just that, a starting point for negotiation.

Yep so when I traded my 15 for my 16, the first offer was $26500 for a TRD 4WD DCLB Sport with 30k miles, June of 16. After back and forth got them up to $30.5k, but took walking away and waiting them out, but that was NJ, dealers there were a PITA.

I can definitely add to that. Had a 2014 Silverado crewcab. I had nothing but issues with it. Took a loss and traded for my 16 Taco, couldnt be happier well it could use a supercharger but no real issues unlike the cheby

Yep, made a poor life choice and followed some friends into buying a new 14 Silverado in Oct of 14, traded my beautiful 11 Taco for it. 4 months later I took a hit of about $5k to move back into my 15 Tacoma. Never going to the dark side again. Maybe a tundra though...Silverado resale was terrible.

I hear ya, lost 7K on my trade. Never going to the darkside again either. Always owned Mazda, Toyota even Kia and Hyundai. Then I got lured into the darkside - 2 Fords and 1 Cheby. Nothing but junk. I am staying away from that darkside and never looking back.

Agreed. But there is so much aftermarket support and knowledgeable people on TW that almost all of the issues with the 16 Tacoma have been ironed out. I had a few issues like howling lower control arms. Wouldnt even call that a big problem, pretty easy fix. Havent had the loose hood scoop yet so guess I'm lucky. I did have rumble strip vibrations but only after I lifted it - nothing that tapered blocks couldnt solve. I also had to replace ecgs bearing. I also had the cps issue but that wasnt a big deal either. My truck is awesome now and as far as im concerned its the best truck I have owned. Now onto more mods, AFE intake with scoop has been ordered, then spec u exhaust and an OV tune and I think it dont get much better than that until a supercharger comes out.

I think, and I might be wrong on this, but most passenger and light truck tires are steel belted radial tires.

As far as trading in goes, I am not upside down on mine should be able to clear about 8k on my end however I want to trade it in on a cheaper car. How does that work?

I assume the dealer would pay off the rest of my loan then apply the leftover trade in value towards the car then I could cover the rest of the cost of the cheaper car?

I traded in a 1 year old LS600hL on a RCF. Price difference on trade was about $32,000. The dealer mailed me a check for the $32,000 in about 7 working days.

I usually just roll the equity I have in my trade straight up into the new loan....However, I am pretty sure you can opt to do whatever you want with the positive equity you would have from your trade. Put a little down from it, and have them cut you check for the rest, etc.

Awesome, thanks! I'd probably just put the full leftover trade amount into the "new" used car and just pay it off completely. I don't like owing money... Just wasn't sure if that was something they really did or if they would try to give you less trade in because of it. None of my family have ever traded for a cheaper vehicle and my buddy that works for a dealer couldn't really tell me either.

Also considering just buying a car and selling the tacoma myself, but trade in seems so close to private party value I think I'd save money trading because of taxes

Miata, used to have an NB now I want an NC. I sold my NB because I needed a truck for work, now that I don't I'd like to go back... Plus I like used cars much more than new, I'm not very good at keeping a car more than a year.

Excellent! I had a MSM and a NC2. Enjoy the NC. If I can get to a year with a car, I congratulate myself by buying other :D My average is usually 30-90 days for a car.
