I have seen where this has been rumored. So, just curious, but where did you see this info? I'm assuming at a dealership. Also, did I miss something or has it also been officially stated that cement will be offered in other trims?

It was always a factory installed option, at least the legit tow package which includes the trans cooler.

Toyota has shown us over and over again for almost 15 years that they are not willing to invest and develop the Tacoma and Tundra to the level of the competition. I'm sure this year will be no different

Huh? I fail to see where it isn't to the level of the competition? Frontier is still same old design, GM twins maybe better MPG and the Zr2 has a front locker, but that's about it. Will be interesting to see what 2019 Ranger brings and Ranger Raptor, but for now Tacoma remains competitive and still on top in sales.

The Tacoma is virtually the same truck it was back in 05. Rear drum brakes, significantly underpowered, meh fuel economy. The GM twins on the other hand are raising the benchmark with a diesel option, 300HP gas motor, modern safety tech, disk brakes. The Tundra is even worse. Same gas guzzling 5.7L, no efficiency improvements, no weight savings, no advancement in design. With the Tacoma they lead the segment so they wont invest in improving the truck and with the Tundra they will never catch the big three so again they choose not to invest. Auto technology has advanced so much in the last five years and yet the Tacoma and Tundra are still the same trucks. Sequoia same story.....old and tired.

Yes well aware of the carry over from the 2nd gen, diesel isn't all its cracked up to be, what modern safety tech does the twins have that the 3rd gens don't besides rear disc brakes? Tired and true also means higher resale and QDR, I'd rather have that over GM any day.

On the 2018 if I select just the technology package (no premium package) on the TRD Off-Road does this mean the rear bumper will be color matched, no chrome? I don't know of a model currently that offers the rear parking sonar with a chrome bumper.

I do NOT like the chrome rear bumper and would like the technology package but I don't need the climate control and moon roof (nor do I want to pay for them).

I'm just offering my opinion relative to the OP's comparison. Safety features like lane keeping assist, forward collision alert, teen driver tech not to mention non-safety additions of Apple car play, wireless hotspot, 8SPD Auto and 370lb of diesel torque if you tow with 30MPG. There is something to be said for reliability as you mentioned (that and resale are why I bought my Tacoma), but every car has its issues and cars of all makes are pretty damn reliable nowadays. I wonder if Colorado owners will be dealing with sagging leaf springs, rotting frames and spongy brakes? Considering the $40K sticker on Tacomas and the fact that they haven't really advanced, I don't think I will be buying another one. You can get more for you money elsewhere and for slightly more, I can get a full-size. My Tacoma has been very good to me over the 8 years I've owned it, but advancements elsewhere will have me looking at options next time around.

I would love to see the rest of this sheet. Any new transmission options? More MTs?
