Brass bolts and square washers

Just curious, I recently removed my dealeinstalled OEM hitch and bumper. Do the sqaure washers and brass bolts go to the hitch or bumper? Thanks

 

Both sound like something that you'd find on a old horse stable and not a hitch? Brass bolts? huh? Sorry, I'm no help.

 

Those are not Brass bolts If they are gold color they are grade 8 bolts and they go to the hitch. These are high strength bolts so you should be good. But just by freak chance they are Brass get ride of them and go get some Grade 8 bolts to replace them with. You dont want to loose what your towing.

 

If there are 6 lines on the head, then they're American grade 8. The equivalant in metric has a 10.0 or something like that on the head.

 

Thanks for the info... and yes I know they aren't actually brass I assume the sqaure washers go with the hitch as well.

 

I just checked mine and I dont have any square washers just round and they are on the bolt head side. Ive got about 6 bolts per side that go thru the frame and the stock reciever.

 

the square washers are spacers...

they take up the space b/w the 2 rear most bumper mounting bolts created by the fact that the hitch is sandwiched b/w the bumper hangers and frame.
