    My daughter and son-in-law borrowed my truck and trailer to move some stuff 3 years ago and did the same thing. With the window closed on the cap isn't too noticeable. If I could have found a used white tailgate that didn't need to be painted for under $300 I'd have bought it and swapped. Good luck finding one. I found 2-3 for $300-$400 and all would have needed painting. I finally gave up. I hardly notice it anymore.
