ROCKtober THERAPY 2017 - Back to the Basics

This one might be different. Since we will be spread out across multiple camp grounds many miles apart, organizing trail runs might be tougher than just rolling past the main tent.

I expect to camp with my friends which may or may not be anywhere near anything Rock Therapy related depending on when the first of us gets there -- the joys of first come first served camp sites.

And at the end of the day I'll want a beer and won't be driving after that.

Without cell signal there is a good chance that any wheeling or socializing with RT people will be purely accidental.

 

Yeah. I know what you mean there. I'll be there the weekend before the event at kens lake. If I had plate numbers and money I could cheat and try to reserve spots for people if they didn't mind paying for days they weren't there. On the cool thing is the spots there are big enough to share. Between two people so I'm sure

 

any spots that we can snag, i'll make sure people are reimbursed for...as much as we can at least. but hopefully we can pull enough together that will cover all spots necessary to make it a great gathering

 

I should have a decent amount of cash with me to reserve spots but will need plate numbers

I plan on being there Monday. I'll have the Tacoma and GX470. Hopefully that's early enough to get a spot

 

We'll get there Monday or Tuesday. I don't mind paying for an extra day or two to get a spot.

 

if I can get all of my tax returns done before the 16th, i'll be up there the 14th or 15th (sat/sun)...otherwise late Monday night i'll most likely be there or first thing Tuesday morning

 

That's the idea. Thing is plate numbers have to match the spot and can't be changed. But you can add an extra one. Each spot at kens lake covers 2 plate numbers for the price of one. I don't remember the price but if you split em they are cheap

 

I'll have my trailer, shower tent, awning room, etc. not sure HOW big the sites are.

 

Last year my buddy and I shared one spot. We had both our tow rigs and trailers in one spot and we just had to park our crawlers back on the trailers. Keep in mind my tow rig and trailer is close to 50 foot long and it fit and still had room for the table and fire at night

FWIW, I love my inReach Explorer, Mike.

I have the subscription that lets you start and stop, and the sat messaging works flawlessly. It interfaces with Garmin's topo app, which is pretty slick too. You can also send your wife a link that lets her check your progress if you're using tracking.

And obviously the SOS feature is pretty nice if shit goes sideways.

 

Yeah I remember us discussing it in the overland thread. Definitely think it will be a worthy investment for this trip.

 

Since this year we will all be spread out(is there another campground near kens lake?) will we have a online trail signup? I know in years past there has been something but it was mainly walk up to the tent for trail runs

 

I have the group site at the ledge reserved for the week. there are plenty of first come first serve sites at that location as well.

we are still exploring the option of having the camping area by the dunes as our main camp...there's also many sites there that can hold our whole group...

Perfect, thanks. I knew you guys were on top of it! I know a lot of people are going to be getting there before me and just wanted to make sure we had options.
