I was fortunate to find a body shop that does fantastic work, as I am super particular. The final amount billed to the insurance company was just shy of $8,900.00.

I'm using a great place as well. The first estimate from the insurance company was just over $6200. Talked to the shop today and they had to get approval for supplemental work to complete the repair. I didn't ask what or how much as the insurance company quickly approved it. Can't wait to get back though.

I get a Ram 2500 loaner from the airforce for work once a month. I do like having the v8 but man that truck is built cheap. Feels like cheap shit. Paper thin paint with tons of paint defects. Everything is hard plastics. Has 15k miles and the seat it torn from getting in and out of it. I can go on and on. I have to overlook the vehicle before I use it and I am so glad I have a Tacoma lol

Cab corner replace is the worst hit body wise you can have in a truck .. ask them to go heavy on the cavity wax . Make sure they have a life time warranty and periodically check for rust.

Um, I can think of about 100 worse repairs to have done. Cab corner, rocker section and a door is a walk in the park.
    Don't scare him

I'm a collision technician. I was offering advise to make sure they did a good repair .Dont slap my hand. It's the only non bolt on part that gets damaged in a wreck to the point of replace . Besides the roof skin. I was offering advice to give him the ammo to request rust inhibitor(cavity wax) and letting him know to keep an eye on it . I've worked side by side with some lazy techs that never use it .Any shop that's worth a dam warranties there work .

Really a 100? The rocker is the same exact part it's just a section of the uniside

I'm not following any of this, so I'm not sure what you're talking about.

Cab corner is the only exterior non bolt on part on a truck, besides the roof.

It's the same thing as putting on a quarter or a side body on a car, and it's by far not the "worst" repair that could have to be done.
You want to put an apron in it? Or maybe both?
Roof? Nobody likes to do those.
I'd rather put a cab corner and part of the rocker on it than a hinge pillar and have to yank out the dash.
The core support on those things is serviced in pieces, you've got to build it before you can even get it on the truck.

So Yeah I can think of about 100 other repairs I would not want to have done to my truck, that's not one of them.

Apron would pretty much be a total unless your working at a mom and pop shop that fixes every pile of junk that comes in the shop . Your right it is the same as a 1/4 on a car not the repair you want on any new vehicle your paying hard earned money for ( 10 years down the road first place to rust ).. like I said I was here to help the op with a dealership collision tech opinion So he knows what to look for not turn his thread into a dbag flexfest . I'm done here.

Toyota doesn't recognize I-car, they've got their own program. But I've got platinum I-car too, and ASE.
I wasn't trying to pick a fight or flex on you, especially being in the same business.
But, you said getting a cab corner on his truck was the worst repair the OP could have, and it's not. No need to mis-inform him or get him worried.
As far as Cavity wax, that's a no brainer. And if his truck rusts out because the butcher he picked to fix it doesn't apply it, then that's his own fault for picking the wrong shop, or going somewhere insurance prefers, because it's cheaper for them.

Thanks guys. Went to one of the best places in the area, if not the best. Very reputable. Amazing service. Truck looks great.

The insurance adjuster tried to steer to one of their shops. I asked him where he would take his car for repairs, he laughed and said he'd take it where I had taken it.
