Really? I never found that really took off the fine dust/debris that is usually stuck on them. Will have to try again as mine is pretty scratched up as well.

Someone in another thread said to use an optics cleaning cloth, like you get with a really nice pair of sunglasses.

Perfect timing to see this thread. I was just noticing how horrible my screen looks already - on a fairly new truck. Yep, I have it washed by someone else...

    I'll try the polish!

IMG_0624.jpg IMG_0620.jpg Well, this one is glass and may work well to protect the screen. It's flexible and takes curves well for glass, and the glue is supposed to be inert to plastics - it's like the one I put on my iPad and DSLR. Prefer it over plastic films- will test out and report back here.

Edit: works great! Nice fit, touch sensitive and clear as glass because it is glass, and it's removable!! See pics.

It is a pain to use. I've done it twice with mixed results. My main problem is the product wouldn't spray consistently out of the can. I even tried setting the can in warm water first but that also only helped a little.

Exactly what I was reading...would spatter a little. Guess best bet would be the 3m film have someone do it....or just not worry about it lol which is where I'm at. 3m install is too damn expensive.

To be fair, it's such a small area it might not be so bad to do. I have some left over from the time I did the hood of one of my vehicles, I may give that a shot and report back.

Is the cluster glass the same for both SR and other models? Is it just a piece of plexi or does it have the plastic outlines of the gauges attached to it? Thanks in advance.

Thanks, so just to confirm, the part came with the plexi and the plastic backing, correct?

If possible, can you take a picture of the backside of that piece?

Would the adhesive on automotive window tint play nicely with the plastic?

If so, I would think the clear polarized window tint (automotive or residential) would be your best bet. Not as durable as 3M clear wrap but we aren't going to be taking rocks to the gauge clusters :D. Its plenty tough enough to wipe down with whatever towel you have laying around. Thats how people clean their windows all the time. I'm not sure about the polarizing effect though. It could be really cool, or a headache. You'd have to make sure you apply it in the right direction, or it may look really dark with polarized sunglasses on.

Could always just do regular clear tint as well. They make that to solely keep heat out.

I only ask this, because I imagine the 3M protective wrap may not be as optically clear? Just an idea and my OCD thought.

I did that...still see swirls all over it...not sure how they got there, but guessing even the tint stuff swirls lightly...at least the stuff I bought did.

hmm, well nevermind then. I don't clean the inside of my windows often but a microfiber has never left a mark on mine. They get a lot more force then dusting the gauge cluster too. I just assumed it would be more durable.

Or maybe it has and the darker tint hides any damage. Clear will always show more imperfections I guess.

Does this mean I should avoid getting an interior cleaning at the car wash?

I just bought a gently used 2015 Genesis. Fully loaded when knew it's a 54k car. Gauge cluster scratched and swirled with the same plastic...unfortunately this is not unique here. The only reason it looks so bad in our trucks is the angle of the lens. The sunlight catches it and reflects the swirls/scratches right up to our eyes. The Genesis is at a downward angle so the appearance of the swirls/scratches is significantly less due to the way the light reflects off it. Had they followed suit with the angle on our Tacomas, this thread probably wouldn't exist.
