Saving weight.....that simple. I'm an old racer..... Believe in cutting weight, not adding it when possible. And I do 35 to40k miles a year, soweight equals gas mileage

I talked to 10 different aluminum skid owners. They were all happy with their purchases. Only a couple said they saw any scrapes or gouges and no significant damage. I was amazed at who all has them.. ( @mpkramer71 is one you'd know )

The invoice will be at my work email. I'll let you know about shipping when I'm there tomorrow. Ships Fed Ex.

Steel and aluminum skids are the same design. If I see any tendency towards damage to any of the individual sections, I can always replace with steel. I tend to NOT beat the crap out of stuff, so I feel like I'm good with aluminum. I've made contact with the rather thin TRD front skid I have now, but never damaged it. (Other than scrapes in paint)

the weight is serious... for a full set: aluminum = 73lbs, steel = 156lbs. that's an 83 lb difference! and $120 up front isn't much to pay if the weight is important to you.

i'm thinking about the aluminum bumper to save weight and i don't think i'll *accidentally* smash it with how high it is... but i was thinking steel for the skids because shit happens... i wasn't trying to wheel my truck hard at RRG and ended up with a bent spindle...

    Door stop.....

I know 3 people who have bought them.

    1. Don't get them wet
    2. Don't try to pull heavy load on a sustained pull
    3. Cable is short lived and hell on hands.

A front skid from Pelfreybilt was only $242 after shipping, for steel.

unfortunately they won't let you use the 20% coupon with expensive stuff. read the fine print... you could try though
    harbor freight...

however, scott did pull everyone out of that creek at RRG with those winches. the one on the front he's had for years
that's not bad. is that to your house or a fedex location that you go pick it up from?

I talked to Scott about his winches. Seems like a good buy, especially with an extended protection plan.

All you'd have to do is buy a synthetic line and done!

He didn't pull EVERYBODY out of the creek....just a select few! :poking::poking: To which my comment is, "What creek.....? I didn't see no stinkin' creek".

Having it dropped at the Louisville Fed Ex hub. That happens to be 2 blocks from where I work. I was told dropping it at a residence would be about $150 more.

Synthetic lines can be as much as $200....which brings price up to that of a more waterproof winch.

2 more pieces for full skids. #3 is the spender. Protects exhaust.

    The mid skid?

I'm just glad I don't need a reroute for anything. Yet.

Might turn it up out the bed behind cab pumped through an 8" wide 4" tall chrome stainless monstrosity

You know the worst part about building a race truck?

    Delays...

Like finding out that early production and late production 3rd gen Tacoma have different spline numbers for the front axels

I can see how that could be an issue... So what's the plan? I'm assuming it's your front axles so I'd guess that's a one off kinda deal.
