Yes v6 auto. The clunking, vibrations, wonky shifting, slow speed surging, fluttering engine all pale in comparison to my howling rear differential. It's an OR so it's not part of the recall. But it's leaking. It's my second differential and it's worse than my first. Now Toyota says it's normal.

    These aren't great trucks.

Thank you. Do you have any transmission flare shifting or rear axle noises?

Very interesting. Would you mind describing when you get the flares and in what gear(s)? I have the flaring in fourth gear on my first acceleration from a start up. It happens every time. It is quite annoying. I still need to have Rev1 applied. Though, it seems, from your experience, it did not solve your flaring. You ought to file a complaint with Toyota corporate. They will likely give you a Platinum 125k mile, 8 year warranty for failing to correct your shift flaring. It's been 2 years. This should have been fixed by now.

That sucks my friend. I hope you will get taken care of. Make a lot of noise to corporate. Tell them to escalate the claim. Their first line, at the customer experience center, completely sucks the obelisk.

Btw I have the free 125/8 warranty, and I'm still planning on getting rid of it...if that conveys how disappointing these trucks are.

I've been as patient as I care to be. I want to love this thing. I reallllly do. I struggled (still have moments) with getting rid of it, but Toyota isnt addressing it. The Platinum warranty is a set of golden handcuffs and it's not worth the paper it's written on because they don't fix anything that matters.

We keep hearing "July is the release date for the fix!" Then it's August, then September, etc. The tranny TSBs are helping but not fixing. My leaking diff isn't on the recall. The rumble strip vibes tab didn't apply because I'm in the "acceptable range" so I still vibe to a stop. I could go on with almost all of the other issues.

I dunno. I've been driving lots of loaners. Some of them other turd gen Tacomas. Theyve all had varying degrees of all the shitty issues. The manual doesn't even help because it feels like hot trash. It's soupy and reverse barely wanted to work.

That's terrible. You may need to shoot for a buyback. I would escalate your case to a VP or higher.

It's only occasional and random. I have an extended warranty. Trying to get Toyota to buy it back.

Hi. What gear is your truck shifting into when you get the flares? Is is only right after you start the truck?

I got a 4 cylinder 5 speed so no transmission issues here! No noise in my rear differential but it's seeping slightly around the seal so had it to the dealership 2 weeks ago and they are ordering me a new seal and are going to put it on while its under warranty! There are 351 on national back order so I'm number 352 LOL. But hopefully in a month or so I will get a call that it's in and take it in and its like a 4 hour job they said but ill get a rental for the day when they work on it.

Great. It sounds like the 4 banger with the manual is a well built truck.

It is! 35,434 miles so far and no issues what so ever, except that small leakage from the rear differential.
