@Choco_Taco if all you wan't is to level it I'd make the same suggestion as @Casper66 & @Salty_Dog. Bilstein 5100's set on 1.75 will get you pretty close to level with no need to lift the rear. If you want some lift you can set them on 2.5 & maybe a 1" block in the rear like @Salty_Dog said but I believe that would make 265's look a little small. I had a 3/2 lift with 265's & they looked really small.

 

Prerunners and 4x4 trucks have the same suspension heights, so they'll fit. If I'm remembering right, 265/70/16 is the size that comes stock on the 16" alloy wheels. A 265/75/16 is only an inch taller than the stock tires.

Still just hangin out recovering from the second shoulder surgery I'm thinking the archery days are over. Oddly I haven't missed it as much as I thought I would. I kinda miss all the competitions mainly because of all the people I know that I would only see at them. You may have been rt it may be time for a crossbow

I like archery & it allows me to hint an extra month but the older I get the less I want to get dressed in full camo & sit in the heat fighting mosquitoes. Haha

You can use your stock coils. But you are going to need a BMF spring compressor to take the coils apart and those threaded rod things from Harbor Freight won't cut it. What you might be able to do to save some money is remove the coil assemblies yourself, take them to a 4X4 shop to have the new shocks installed and then reinstall them yourself.

I know on my Tundra I also installed a differential drop kit to save wear and tear on the front CV joints.

The reason Buyobuyo suggested coils along with the struts is if you use stock coils along with the 5100's and lift the truck by going to the higher notches you preload the coils and in essence you end up with about the same thing as using spacer blocks. It'll also make it ride more stiffly. Ideally you want the lft to come from the coils and leave your struts on the 0 setting. This allowing full travel in your strut also giving you a much nicer ride. The only reason I suggested 5100's with the stock coils is I believe no more lift than what he was asking for i think maybe the first setting would do it. Everybody has their own opinions on this topic which I respect and for God's sake I'm noexpert at any of this

 

I kept the stock coils on my Tundra. The ride was not any more harsh than stock. I drove it that way for 10 years. (Just another opinion).

 

On my Tundra, I did up-size my tires to 285s.

 

If I did this, should I be looking at larger tires? I haven't bought any yet, but I will have the 16" rims.

 

And done! I think this is where I am going to focus, and figure out from who/where I will order these from. If I can get something close to plug-and-play where I don't have to take pieces to a shop, then all the better. Not really sure where around me I would take it without some research.

 

Then when you figure out which coil/strut combo you want just order it preassembled then you quite literally remove the old and pp in the new

Just did a quick quote on the Headstrong website, and it's only about $85 to have it preassembled, so that's pretty good.

 

I am running 5100's with 887 coils. I also went with Headstrongs 3 leaf AAL. Rides way better then the pre loaded springs and blocks I had before.

 

Did you put it in yourself? Just wondering how difficult it is to do this in a typical garage or if I would need any special tools. The one thing I don't have is any air tools. Maybe make this a mod day at someone's house who has done this? It will take me a while to get this anyway so no rush on setting anything up.

 

This whole discussion began I believe with you asking for an "economical" leveling solution. You wanted to fit 265's. Thankfully the cheapest solution was only touched upon here. To be honest I'd leave the whole thing alone until you figure out what you really want to do with your truck and how you really want it to look. I had my mind set on exactly how I wanted mine to look when I bought it and made a pretty quick jump to get that part done. I really only had a little experience with IFS so the only thing I had to go by was what my local "expert" truck shop told me. This resulted in installing 2 lifts so far which is something we are trying to help you avoid. If it cost you a little more to get something that will work better for you and you'll be happier with then save up and get it. Lifts and wheels and tires can be a rabbit hole you head down and can get exspensive if you get hooked. Prerunners can be lifted more easily and higher than 4wd trucks as you don't have things like cv angles to worry about. You spoke in your build with me a few days ago about wanting some armor and a desire to do some off roading. If this is still your desire then a functional suspension (not neccesarily exspensive) should be your goal. Figure out what you want to do with it first.

 

It can all be done with basic hand tools especially if you get coils and struts preassembled
