OK... I think I have the wife "sold" on the HomerTaco grille thing. Told her I was doing a swap. What she doesn't know won't hurt her.

 

I used to do that with my ex all the time. I'll have to see how things go with the new gf when I get more things for the truck.

Break her in early! Start with the truck mods right off the bat so she gets used to it!

 

Exactly. I don't think I'm going to do much more to the taco though. I think I might go for a T4R again. Then... I'll have to sneak the mods in.

Hey ya'll! Just got through a busy week. Got all moved in with my girlfriend though, so that's wonderful.

Now it's just unpacking, buying the furniture we needs, fixing things from the previous tenants, etc. Does anyone want a brown bonded leather chaise? I'd practically give it away if you don't make me move it.

LOL. Better start getting her "used to it".

Yeah... I think it's a bit too late for that for me. Already have joint accounts, and have had them since we got married. Never thought it would be an issue... until now.

 

The GF and I have a weird hybrid system; We've each got our own accounts, but also have a joint account that all of the household bills (mortgage, electric bill, etc) come out of. We each put a set amount into it each month.

 

That's a great idea/system right there. If I do this marriage thing all over again, that's exactly what I'll do.

 

That is what a lot of my friends and their GF/wives do. We decided to go just the joint route, though. We each have our own credit cards, but they get paid from the same account.

It works pretty well. We decided early on that we'd put more per month into it than we were drawing out, so by now we've got a pretty good safety net built up in there for a rainy day/emergency repair fund.

Edit- We had considered going with a full-on joint account and closing both of our personal accounts, but we've seen too many fights/splits caused by how 'joint' $$ is spent. With the setup that we have, as long as each of us is making our monthly contribution to the JA, the neither of us can freak out about what the other one is spending their $$ on.

As long as it's not heroin or cocaine or something like that, obviously. Or 300 cats.

We found around $20k in cash hidden all over my grandfather's house after he passed away. But that's because he was old, senile, and didn't trust banks.....or people..

Me too, but without the old or the k after the $20... I'm married with kids, I'm happy to find a quarter between the couch cushions!
