Put 255/85/16s on stock OR wheels and suspension

I think with more offset (more negative offset) you'd only be pushing the tire away from the uca further. You'd rub your plastics.

I'm probably going to mount my 255s on my scs f5s with 0 offset a day before I do my suspension and cut some plastic. Expecting to rub a bit.

 

If somehow that's the case (highly unlikely) then you can put the spare on the rear.

 

It was really just something I threw out that rubs commonly.

 

These trucks come with a full size spare that's 265mm wide on the steel wheel, so there's no reason a narrower tire should rub.

 

255/85r16 maxxis mt 762 bighor, no run at full loc, smooth with a little road hum but nothing obnoxious . 149.90 with another 10% off on pep boys right now. Got 5 of them installed with road hazard warranty under 900$ I'll check back in on them after some miles are run on them. Lift is on the way

 

I'll be curious to see how these do in the rain and snow.

 

Those look great @Ajsmith1990 . Actually looks like you have even more UCA clearance than the KM2s do, and the price was right for sure.

I ran 255/75 r 17's (same overall height and width)on a stock 2015 DCSB without any rubbing even at full lock and up travel.
Later added 1.5 inch wheel spacers and that did make them rub on the mud flaps.

 

So you're aware, 255/75r17 is 1" shorter than what OP is talking about. 255/80r17 is the same height.

 

255/80/17 is the equivalent to 255/85/16

That's what I figured based on the tread pattern and cheap price, but I didn't want to be an asshole and bash tires off an assumption.

 

Is anyone running ATs in this size? Seeing mostly MTs in here.

I'd like to run 255/85/16s after reading through the last 12 pages, but am not sure what's out there. I'll more than likely be 95+% on road, with the occasional light off-road.

 

As far as I know there aren't any ATs. The closest thing I know of is the Cooper Maxx, which is a mix between an AT and an MT. They have fantastic on road manners.

 

@EatSleepTacos and @ryanjboutin , thanks! Do most people notice a big MPG hit with MT vs AT? I'm getting around 22mpg now on the factory running shoes on my Taco, I expect at least a couple of mpg drop.

 

I have the Cooper st maxx in 255/80r17 (the 17" wheel equivalent) and I do mostly highway driving and get around 17 mpg. This is with a 3" lift and a camper shell to help with aerodynamics a little. Take this with a grain of salt, as this is in a second gen where 17 mpg highway is considered decent.

 

I figure my mileage drop was more due to going up in tire size than being a MT specifically. I went from about 18-21 on my stock wranglers down to 16-19 on the KM2s.

It's whatever, I have a motorcycle for fuel economy.

 

I think the cooper discoverer comes in this size. May be wrong.
