Ok, back in January I went cheap and did a 3" tuff country spacer lift in the front and aal in the rear on my 2016 Tacoma trd off road.... Road like crap, lots of body roll over whoops, clunking shocks that topped out, loose steering, etc...so when I saved enough cash, I replaced the front suspension with fox 2.0 coilovers and matched the back with fox 2.0 shocks. Now instead of having a perfectly level truck, I have too much rake (center hub up to bottom of fender in the front is now 21" and 24" in the rear). So my question is what happened to my front lift, I thought the fox 2.0 coilovers would get me some lift, probably not a full 3", but at least some lift...but at 21" I am back at factory height. I have 2 3/4" thread showing on each front coilover and seem to be getting 0 lift.

I am running Toyo Open Country m/t 285/70r17 tires with zero rubbing (mods were made to gain this clearance).

What is the best route to take to get my truck back close to level? I wouldn't mind some rake, so if I can get front up to 22 or 22 1/2, I would be extremely happy providing I dont lose the ride quality I gained from the fox 2.0's. Can my coilovers be adjusted for more lift? Can/should i add a tiny spacer? Should i remove the rear aal and go back to stock height in the rear? What is my best option?

    Thanks guys for any input!!!

Top is tuff country 3" lift, bottom is after i replaced front spacer lift with fox 2.0 coilovers. Not horrible, but can i make it better?

Seems they are not adjusted correctly. They should bring 0-2.5 lift depending on where they are set.

Or maybe it's the fox 2.5 coilovers that are adjustable and that the 2.0s are just direct replacement for stock.

Also you could have ordered the wrong length

    Just guessing.

Double checked part numbers and everything is correct, I'm gonna call fox and ask their opinion next.

Those are adjustable coilovers. It's up to you to set them at the height you want. If you don't have the spanner wrench to adjust the collar, get one.

Also, hopefully you have a diff drop kit on it. At 2.5" to 3" you'll need one to prevent premature CV joint wear.

Diff drop barely does anything, not worth the few bucks you spend on it

I, and many others (including shock and lift manufacturers) happen to disagree.

I have a best gen, of course.

I can't imagine a 2nd or 3rd gen will be all that different, though.

for $20 and 20 minutes of work, it's really hard to argue against doing it (IMO), even if it is only a "minor" improvement in CV angle.

doesnt own a 2nd or 3rd gen but saying what works and doesnt? maybe you should go back to the first gen forums.

diff drops dont do anything on the newer generations except rotate the differential. and as a matter of fact i have a 2.5in lift without any issues on 35s

OP: you need to add more preload on the coil to gain more lift

If you don't like people with 1st gens posting in this particular forum (non gen specific), maybe start a new 2nd gen specific suspension forum.

That said, I never claimed to be an expert or have the final word on 2nd gens. I just stated my opinion based on my experience owning a 1st gen.

But to say that diff drops don't "do anything" on 2nd or 3rd gens is simply wrong. They do the exact same thing they do on first gens, or *any* truck for that matter: lower the CV angle caused by a lift.

You are of the opinion that "it doesn't matter" on 2nd gens, whereas I'm of the opinion that it can't hurt to have lower CV angles no matter what IFS truck you own.

Rafita, i haven't tried adjusting the front coilovers yet, but i did remove the add a leaf spring in the rear which dropped it 2", so i added back a 1" spacer And my ride/handling is great!!! I would like to adjust the front up 1" so it sits perfectly level, but i dont want a crap ride again....so i'm not adjusting until i hear exactly how many turns and/or how much thread should show and how it will affect ride quality.

If you don't drop the differential and plan to go anywhere beside the pavement you are making a mistake. Your boots WILL tear. Not a matter of if, but when.

Both of these statements are true!! It's a very polarized issue, that we can all agree on :fistbump:

That being said the diff drop comes with risks.

What kind of risks? Not being a smartass, genuinely curious since you posted the messed up cv boot pic.
