PSA: Truck abusers, your LCA frame mounts may be cracking

I have never seen a thread about this issue. I don't know if I've just never seen it, but in case there isn't, I wanted to throw this out there. After seeing @sytfu510 's broken LCA mount I checked mine too, turns out my front LCA mounts are starting to crack at the welds. There is approximately 1/2" crack down the rear weld on the front mounts on passenger and driver side. Its difficult to see from the photos due to the dirt/lighting but they are definitely starting to crack. You probably cannot see it on a mobile phone without blowing up the image.

 

Post a pic of a broken mount. I can't see it. Thanks.

 

It happens. Clean it up and slap a bead on it. Bob's your uncle.

Why it's important to prep (nut and bolt check, Inspect, fluids, wheel bearings etc ) your truck before every trip so you can catch it before you do a lower control arm delete.

Ehh...I don't do much rock crawling, however I drive like an asshole and the truck is overloaded when I'm tooling around in the desert, its probably from that. The long travel has only been on for 8000mi and I haven't abused it out in the desert yet, so most of the fatigue that caused that was with stock geometry.

What are your thoughts right now on a solution/reinforcements for your truck?

 

Probably do like others have already suggested, grind out the crack and reweld it. I'll just add it to the "Inspect all these things routinely now" list.

I'm hoping for other truck abusers to inspect theirs and see if this is a 2-off situation that is just affecting me and @sytfu510 or if others have the same issue but not found it yet.

 

Yeah, I always check mine before a trip but now I'm not sure if I'm ever looking close enough. It'd be nice if there was an easy way to beef them up.
