AZ hunting

Anyone gearing up for the opener of dove season? I think I might get me some new chokes to try out before duck season.

 

I drew whitetail in 36c oct. 27- Nov. 4. Anybody else?

 

I was hoping to have monies for a shotgun by then but it looks doubtful. I'm thinking I may just take my wife's 20 gauge Remington 870 and see if I can knock a few down with dumb luck. Haha

 

I saw there was some leftovers for 36ABC, I was thinking about trying out 36A. I normally hunt B but i could use a change in scenery.

 

20G works just fine on dove... last year for kicks I used a 20g SXS coach gun, took a while to get a limit but it was fun...

 

I haven't hunted dove in over 15 years so attempting it with a 20ga. will be a challenge for sure, but a bad day hunting still beats the hell out of being at work.

 

My roommate and I are going to put in for the next deer raffle.

We're also planning a trip to hunt black bear in the White mountains. Rifle tags are otc.

 

How much are bear tags? Like $350?

 

According to the person I spoke to at big5 they're $25

instate bear tags are cheap.. Bear hunting on state land is tough!

 

True dat- and when you drop that big bruin at 8000-9000 feet in the bottom of the canyon you better have horses and or a case of monster cuz, that meat ain't gonna last long until you get it cool.

IF you're looking for an easy hunt, go shoot a collared peccary...

 

I have 2 hunting 12gauges. If you ever want to go, I'll let you borrow one. We can do a TW Dove Opener Meet.

 

I've got a few shotguns too! Only thing left to do is for someone to share their hunting spot! I got a couple down by red rock.

 

Right? I think I am going to hold off on buying one and just go with when we go. We will only be able to go for a couple days and may not even see one bear, if we do get one and see a 2nd bear then it'll just have to wait until next year. I also haven't actually gone hunting before, not really something my family did when I was growing up. Plenty of camping and shooting just not hunting.

Yep! Some gnarly steep terrain. We'll manage though if this trip ends up happening.

 

Just make sure you check with AZGF on tuesdays to make sure the unit is still open.

We're going to make sure everything we do is legal and ethical. No worries there. Trip won't be for a few months, the buddy I'm going with isn't new to this so it won't be a couple idiots running around shooting at whatever moves or anything like that.
