Good, so if the paint ever fades on my BBP, I can sell it as a TRD Pro.

Anyone know where this came from?

There has got to be more than this...

For the love of it all, I just want a sunroof without paying for loads of stuff I have ZERO use for.

    Wish they would share more?

If they are not doing cruise on the SR than is it packaged with the keyless option somehow?

In the SouthEast it was a package, keyless and cruise together.

Also it seems for 2018 you can't order an SR5 w/out flares. They now come standard.

I'm not sure I like that...

Toyota won't break the sunroof out separately. If they did, people like me would buy a 4x4 SR5 with one and save a shit ton of money.

It only ruled the roost because there was no competition. It's been a two horse race with Nissan for a very long time. Again, no one pushing Toyota to improve the trucks. I think all responding to my posts are misinterpreting my point in a very defensive way. I've owned several Toyota's and still have a very reliable Tacoma. Toyota's cost cutting and complacency is obvious across the entire vehicle lineup and they are losing share. That's a big reason you will be seeing new, more exciting and competitive offerings (2018 Camry). The cars are extremely reliable, but very boring. I wouldn't defend their lack of R&D and unwillingness to advance their cars because all they are doing is saving retooling costs. You can't defend drum versus disk brakes. There's a reason why 99% of the cars and trucks on the road don't have them and it's the same reason engines don't have carbs and people don't use payphones anymore. Anyone who says drum brakes are defendable doesn't tow. Trucks and the term lightly loaded rear-end are conflicting. One of the main reasons for the existence of trucks is to load the bed.

I showed that screen cap of those option changes to a guy at my local dealership yesterday. He said it definitely looks like their software, but couldn't find the info in his system.
It seems to say they are mostly renaming the packages for next year. I sure hope they can build me a TRDORLB with the tech package MINUS those damn leather seats. We'll see.

I just want Toyota to stop cutting corners and start putting some beef in the burger. I like the competition because it will hopefully drive Toyota to make some well needed changes. The more Colorados and Frontiers and Rangers that are out there will only make the Tacoma a better truck.

I don't want them to make any drastic changes that will effect long-term reliability. I like to keep cars for at least 8 years if not 10 years. MY second gen went for 10 years on all original parts with no issues and it is still running perfectly to this day. I don't think a company that cuts corners can produce that type of reliability.

Imagine if Toyota did what other Companies are doing with turbocharged this and turbocharge that. There is a famous Tundra that went to 1 million miles and still looked brand new and ran nearly like brand new. I doubt that any Ecoboost engine will run that long, and I still wouldn't mind owning a Ford.

I know Toyota is trying to change their image. However, they tried this so many times in the past. The MR2T, Supra MK4, Celica All trac were never hot sellers and were commercial failures in the US. The RC doesn't sell well and neither does the FRS. People that want fun cars aren't going to buy Japanese. The 350z, RC and FRS together get outsold by base model Mustangs and Camaros by nearly 10 to 1. People that want reliability go to Japanese brands and primarily Toyota. That is what Toyota needs to stick to. Nobody is going to buy a 300hp Camry. There is a lot of hype surrounding the new Supra. That is going to fail too.

Toyota is not passing Ford or Chevy no matter how hard they try. They already tried and now they have settled into accepting that and being a niche player in the truck market. I don't think you'll convince anyone that Ford and Chevy trucks are throwaways. I'll say it again here, if Toyota's were built so strong and made to last, the leaf springs wouldn't invert and the frames wouldn't rot, even though Tacoma owners have been dealing with both those issues for a decade. Have you ever seen the quality of the speakers from a Tacoma stereo? They look like they were made by Fisher-Price. I'm not trying to knock Toyota, as much as I'm just demanding more from them and holding them to a higher standard. Cars are getting 250+HP out of 4 cyl engines and Toyota puts a 280HP engine in a truck and that's progress? They were behind the curve when they introduced the engine.

Toyota isn't passing Chevy of Ford because they are already light years ahead of them in quality. I would go through the list of problems a Chevy and Ford have but I don't have all day. My speakers in my 2006 Tacoma were perfectly fine. 280hp is plenty for a midsize truck. What more do you want? After all this is a truck, not a sports car.

I don't need to explain to you why Toyotas are strong. Here is a thread of my truck rolling down the highway keeping my girlfriend and I completely safe without a scratch.
