Jambo cafe in Santa fe, NM. Local spot and me and my wife love it.

 

There USED to be a place in Denver, Pa. called "Zinn's Diner". Most of the food there came from local Amish and Mennonite farms, most of the help were Mennonites, and it had a Black Raspberry pie that was TO DIE FOR! You also could get interesting things like Creamed Chipped Beef on Pancakes(!) and other old fashioned goodies!
I think it's changed hands and has a different name now, so I don't know if it's still as good...

As you mention NC BBQ you must be in or near NC. But your Profile doesn't say your general location. None that I can see anyways.

 

I hear that on the meat stealers. I do love good smoked meat and BBQ. I live in High Point NC as you can see from my Profile.
I can drive to Lexington the BBQ Capital of NC in about 15-20 minutes.

Interesting info...just looked up the word origin for barbecue, and found that it's derived from "barbacoa", a Spanish term.
I always heard that the term came from a ranch in Texas, the "Bar-B-Q", which was it's cattle brand...

Alejandros Mexican Grill in Roanoke, Va. I drive 70 miles for their Fish Tacos. Damn Good.

 

I get down to Lexington as often as I can but not often enough. There is this local place "Carter Brothers" that has 2 restaurants in HP serving Lexington style BBQ that's top notch. Plus you otta see their Tenderloin Biscuits. They're HUGE. They look like someone put a half a Boston Butt on a Burger Bun.

 

Not giving my opinion boy's. Just stating the facts.
