I'm sorry your truck is having problems. I think Toyota will eventually solve your problems. Mine is a great truck.

You drive less than I do. Received my ordered 16 Tacoma June 8 2016, has 8700 miles on it.

I'm a dealer, Saw a '17 Trd Off Road with 54k on it at the auction the other day. Was going to buy it, but it brought 30k. Went to the dealership the same week and bought a brand new one for 3k more

First time posting in a long time. I traded my 2016 sr5 with 70k miles last weekend and the dealer gave me $26k. I picked up a new 17 trd sport 4x4 for $30k out the door. Old truck was magnetic Grey and the new ones white. I miss the old truck already :(

Ya, I got pretty lucky I think. I was starting to doubt a lot of people on here because I wasn't having the same issues and was thinking they were making it up.

Definitely not making it up. Every single one I know with a 2016-2017 Tacoma, has transmission and rear axle problems. All of them are 6cyl with auto transmission. And, we are all professionals that take good care of our trucks. Yet, Not one of them does not have these problems. You are fortunate.

I don't have any problems, but it is sitting at Toyota for a couple months with the leaking problem, but it was running great:)

54k miles and it still brought $30k from the auction. Damn these trucks hold their value.

24k here truck runs great, no issues, tsb or funny noises or leaks. I did replace the CPS & will probably buy and install the new version or part # just to avoid possible problems.
I run the chit out of it but I do full service every 5k, use top tier regular fuel, no chirp or cricket noise either

To sum it up, the truck has been great thus far.

And if you don't feel its great for you, just trade it and be done. But be mindful that you might realize you had a great truck after its all said & done hehe!

    Cheers!

I also have a 2016 SR5 but mine only has 20K on it. That's awesome to know you got that much for yours with 70K!
Also, do you feel the white is boring already compared to the MGM?

Just turned 6,700 miles on mine its 17 months old. I run my Trucks for 2-3 years and sell them with very low miles. I plan on buying a 2020 But this time with 4WD, another Sport. This next Tacoma will be my 5th. I've never bought a Sport 2wd before (all have been TRD 4wd Off Road) and I've enjoyed it but I miss the option of 4wd.

Mostly yes. Its not annoyingly bad like it was, but I would not say that this is my favorite transmission in the world. Still shifts a bit rough, but I've learned to live with it.

I have a 2016 Access Cab SR5 4x4 V6/Auto that I got in Dec of 2015 that had about 27,000 miles on it before I deployed in march, no major issues other than the transmission occasionally searching for gears. My sister took it in for recall work since I've been gone, but not because of any problems... I'm also pretty sure this is my first post, I've been lurking a long time.

Thanks for the info. Do you ever get any flares (engine revving up) when the transmission is shifting?
