after having two full size chevys in the family, and both of my buddies having full size chevys ... ill never own one again. So much shit went wrong with them. all "TSB's" by chevy, so they knew they had issues..... Had to do a full trans on my 2500HD due to a known issue (torque converter lockup clutch cracking) among many other things.

About the only american full size truck id own would be a 2012+ Ford F150 / F250

No, but you will get haters for everything on the road. But there has to be a reason for having the #1 selling truck for 40 years straight....PS... its not cause they are cheap!

Yeah they are pretty bad ass. Two neighbors have em. They look pretty sweet. They probably paid a pretty penny for them too.

I sold my Ford 2009 F350 quadcab 4x4 6.4L diesel and bought the 01 Tacoma that I have now. It was one of the best trucks I've ever owned, and would pull a house (which it did for 3 yrs). Never had a problem with the 4wd, and used it frequently in Michigans U.P.

Only thing I don't like about my 01Taco is that it's not a diesel! If it had that, it would be perfect! Oh, and a bigger damn fuel tank! I had 113 gallons of capacity in the Ford. 1,500-mile range is pretty cool! Especially when yer camping/4-wheeling in northern Ontario!

    No. Lol

We are in a Toyota forum so views will be biased.

I've owned two, still have one and knock on wood both trucks have been the best trucks I've ever owned, ever.

The first was a 2003 F250 FX4 with the 7.3 Turbo Diesel. It would pull your house down, then drag it across the country.

I now have a 2013 F150 STX with the 5.0 V8. Tons of power, great fuel economy and very comfy. It has tons of power versus the Tacoma's as it should since its a full size V8 and I average 21-22 mpg.

Now my DD is a 4Runner but I still love my F150.

I sold my Tacoma to buy a 2010 6.4 F350. Great truck loved it. Loved my Tacoma too but needed a tow rig for my land cruiser. Traded that 10 in at 200k for a '15 f250 6.7. Love it too.

Sure Ford has made some crap here and there but if you judge their whole line up off of one or two crap engines (btw the 5.4 may be a pos but theres a million of them out there and still on the road) you're an idiot. You could say the same thing for every manufacturer including Toyota and Chevy.

So no the newer F150s are far from junk. Theyre great trucks and if I could downsize I'd be torn between an F150 or a Tundra myself.

Re duramaxes, has anyone ever worked on a duramax? Like actual engine work? What a fucking nightmare.

I agree. The F150 are solid trucks, especially the V8 models.

The f150 is a piece of shit when it's compared to a Tacoma. End thread. And yes they are bad. And the reason it's the number one selling truck is because it's cheap. Y'all can say whatever you want the reason is but the main reason is it's cheap. And they don't hold their value worth a shit. Ford is always giving incentives on those shitty trucks to convince people to buy them. Toyota doesn't have to give incentives because they are worth it. You can drive a f150 for 100k miles and it will only be worth about a third of what you paid for it. A Tacoma on the other hand can be bought for 30k, driven for 100k miles and be sold for 25000.

Half. My F150 new was $32k, it's at 103k miles and was appraised for $17k.

But yes, Toyota's do hold their value better than the domestics.

Half is still piss poor after 100k miles. My old Tacoma only lost half its original value after 600k miles. That I can live with.

I am not disagreeing with you.

I don't quite understand why reviews compare the Tacoma and the F-150 in the same class (midsize vs full size)

I wish Toyota would improve on the Tundra. I would own one of those before a F-150 but the Tundra fuel economy is laughable.
