Just saw this thread, and I would agree with @mesojdm . Half of the cut behind the raised side portion makes the cut a bit more forgiving. I'll have PDF instructions on install on our site very soon for those to read over who may be interested. I'll be installing one tomorrow on a customer truck as well, loaded with a swing arm.

The hitch is below the bumper due to clearance issues with a flip up plate mount and dropping the thick and curved tailgated on the '16+ Tacoma's. I tried, but it wanted to rub so in the name of preventing scratched paint we only offer the under mount hitch. It is however recessed back farther than stock and gives added departure clearance that way vs stock even though it's under the bumper. The reason for the under-bumper placement of the trailer wire plug is due to wiring length. Toyota gave basically no slack in the factory wiring and it would not reach next to the license on ours due to placement, our license sits out farther than others so as to help protect the tailgate should someone back into a pole dead center, as well as to give the bumper more dimension and therefore strength.

Compared to other high clearance '16+ bumpers I've seen in person, ours is a bit slimmer on the taper from the plate to the tail lights, as well as the wrap around side portion so you gain clearance everywhere in the rear, plus a bit of bed side protection with the little extra that our sides sit out vs under the bedside cut.

Sonar cutouts are available(in fact the sonar is visible on the bumper pic in the OP), BSM is not.

The side plates of the bumper are supported via brace brackets welded in, they do not brace all the way to the wheel well but I have not encountered a need for that. The sides are VERY solid. We build our products to be used offroad, we're out in our own rig (long travel dual air locked 4runner on 35s) every other weekend camping and crawling around the mountains and have many friends with our armor that do the same.

Yeah I'll take you a picture tonight when I'm off work. If you're worried about the salt you could maybe do a primer with some POR15 on the bare metal left after the cut?

You're not joking there, it was a damn struggle to get that wiring harness back into place.

I did that on the first one, but its a lot of little wires on the back of that plug! Figured most guys wouldnt want to mess with it

LOL sounds good! Wiring is my least favorite part about modding and working on trucks.
Also the reason I run a Switchpros panel on my rig for all my lights and accessories- ground the accessory and then run the power to the corresponding wire on their loom for the button you want and done. 1 harness pre-loomed through the firewall to the control panel, one heavy pos/neg to the distribution block. I can handle that. LOL

You guys produce a nice clean looking bumper (both front and rear). I'm guessing that the BSM and the parking sensors are two different issues? I was thinking they were one in the same. Where in the hell are the BSM sensors? Are they located behind the factory bumper, and therefore can "see" through the plastic material, whereas the BSM can't see through the steel. Is that the issue?

In addition, according to RelentlessFab's website there are recovery points for the bumper? I assume these can be used with a high lift jack, for example?

    Thanks in advance.

You're correct. The BSM is a separate black box that sits behind the plastic corners of the stock bumper in a hollow space, it can shoot through plastic but will be triggered by the metal hence the incompatibility.
Found this little diagram on google to illustrate where they're at.

Kind of dumb for toyota to place them there, should have put them behind the tail light like other manufacturers.

The Sonar are the 4 little round black sensors, those we simply add a matching cutout to transfer them to the new bumper.
The D-ring recovery points are standard on all our bumpers, and you can use a jack to lift off them by hooking the jack through a D ring as you guessed

Perfect. Thank you! It just comes down to deciding if you can live without the BSM. I must admit that I've gotten used to having it, and kind of like it. Like you pointed out, I wish Toyota would've taken this into consideration since modding a Taco is what people like to do.

Roger that. I appreciate it. Does it still give a good view similar to the stock location since its further down the tailgate? I assume you can adjust the angle.

Just ordered mine. Can’t wait to install. I definitely have never done some major cutting on my own, but after watching dozens of videos I feel confident I can tackle the cuts myself. The actual install I’ll need to have a few buddies assist with lifting while I bolt it on.
