Anyone know when/if they started putting updated gaskets in the Tacoma third brake lights?

With the rain today, I'm afraid to go look in my new truck.

It's not the gaskets. They're replacing whole CHMSL assemblies. Many on backorder also.

Hmmm. So would my 3 week old Tacoma have the updated assembly?

I think the ones that leak were torqued improperly which messed up the gasket

A lot of threads on this issue lately. Is there a TSB out for this now?

2017 model here OP, been through washington winters with no leaking. If you're afraid, just wash your car and focus your hose on that brake light and see if it leaks a bit.

Western Washington? So Moss, mold and mildew is probably growing in your third brake light and sealed off the leak.

Now that's bordering on paranoia don't start on that, there's already nuff of other stuff to go around lmaoo!

Yup, improper install would be my guess and now they redesigned it to make install idiot proof lolo!

Nope. I keep my truck garaged and detailed  Still, has been left overnight in parking lots and at work with no issue.

It's a balmy 93 degrees here today and just 5 days out from breaking our record of 51 days without rain. Supposed to be 100 tomorrow. :annoyed:

PNW here. Not looking forward to record breaking heat! Luckily my car is garaged at work.
Should drop back down later this week, fingers crossed

I think the heat itself isn't record breaking. It's been actually a little cooler this year than other years, but much drier. I remember maybe 5 years back it was 104 in Bellevue...ugh.

Mine is garaged at work if I come early enough lol. Luckily I work from home every other week as well. Nothing beats meetings in your boxers.

Wow, 51 days without rain, I swear we are lucky if we get 51 hours without it.

Jeez. The way this is going with all the recalls, TSB's ect. on the 3rd Gens, Seat-belt Mike Sweers and Toyota is going to have to replace everything BUT the seat belt bracket.

It's a common misconception about Western Washington. We get less rain on average than other cities like NYC. We just have more cloudy days during the fall-spring. Summers (and really all seasons) here are absolutely beautiful. Hung out at this lake with the fam last weekend.

Someone reported that the protective cover on the gasket was not removed causing some of the leaking issues.

I grew up in the Tacoma area. Don't miss that weather one bit. Cold, clammy and grey 8 months out of the year. No Thanks!

I heard it gets so hot out in Arizona sometimes that they have to ground flights. Is that true?

Ehhhhhhh maybe once or twice every few years. We get a week or two in the 100-teens in June or early July. Then it cools down to the low 100s and it gets humid (monsoon season). I'll tell you its easier to work outside in 111degree heat at 10% humidity than it is to be 102 and 80% humidity. Miserable sticky and sweaty!

Tacoma...I understand your decision lol. Although I couldn't ever do the desert. Spent a year in the desert, 1.5 years in the jungle. Rather do the jungle again, at least there were beaches.

We have mountains and forest 2 hours away from Phoenix. AZ is a pretty amazing state if you get out and explore. San Diego is a 5 hour drive away although I lived in LA for 10 years so I have very little desire to spend any time in SoCal.
