Anyone ever relocate their charcoal canister? On the '95'-'00 trucks it was above the battery. and in the '01+ it was under the bed near the fuel tank. I want to put a fusebox and relay box where it is right now above the battery.

Anyone ever relocate theirs to the other side of the engine bay, or switch to the '01-'04 under bed style?

Is that my charcoal canister? Above the battery with all the hoses going to it?

Yup. The '95-'00 trucks had it above the battery.

Ah, ok. I thought it was some kind of vacuum box because of all of the hoses lol
Seems like either moving it to the other side or under the bed, you'd have to re-route or extend all of the hoses that go to it.

Well, to an extent it is. It does have vacuum lines but it's mainly used for the emissions system and the fuel system. Takes fuel vapor and prevents it from entering the atmosphere.

Yeah, that thing! I don't think there's anything electric going to it, so it's just a matter of redoing the hoses

I swear there's one connector on it. You can't see it in that pic I pulled of Google, but there is one.

I mean I'd totally just remove the whole thing but I have to conform California's stupid CARB and SMOG crap. I don't know if extending the vacuum lines would change anything system wise.

Yikes, Cali emissions. Feel sorry for ya, here in Nashville, I could probably ditch the whole thing and they wouldn't care.

I was considering putting in the Toyota 1KZ Turbodiesel engine in. According to California SMOG/CARB regulations Diesel vehicles made or that uses components made in or before 1997 are exempt from testing. 1998 onwards must use all original equipment and conform to all SMOG regulations.

Guess what year truck I have...

Everything fun is illegal here, lol.

I just put this bussmann between the canister and the firewall.

Looks like a tight fit, the Bussman has both relays and fuses right?

Yep, theres a DIY Bussmann RTMR thread in the tech section I believe. Really well documented and explains everything. I got this one on eBay for a pretty good deal pre wired. I still haven't finalized the mount but I actually just cut up one of the mounts that comes with it. It has 5 relays with fuses, and 5 fuses for accessories that don't need relays. So you can run up to 10 different accessories through it. It's actually smaller than the blue sea fuse block that I had before.

How well does it fit behind the charcoal canister?

You can see in the picture how much clearance there is. I can still remove the cover easily. It is definitely tight, but once you get it setup and wired you shouldn't have to mess with it again.

Hi, do you have a clear pictures of the hose set up ? Mines is all missed up and I didn’t pass my smog so I wanna re hose everything correct

hi, do you have a clear photo of the evap canister/hose set up ? I just bought a 95 and the previous other did a Mickey Mouse with all the hoses and I can’t pass my smog. I’m guessing it’s cause of the hoses not being connect and this being broken .
