LED headlights

I'm looking for advice and recommendations on which headlights to get. I'm thinking either the opt7 or the morimoto. anybody have experience with them?

Get HID. LED is not good for our trucks. The projectors are not optimized for them. Look at Diode Dynamics.

 

Im concerned with the HID because one they dont normally last as long, and 2 they are more fragile which isn't great because i off road quite a bit. and i know they heat up which im not sure is a great thing when i live in a desert.

 

I'm over the pursuit of letting LED bulbs into our stock projectors. Every part that I've read people have said they don't like the output. The only way I'll do it is retrofitting LED projectors, otherwise I'm just going to do hid

 

im also looking at the fluxbeam

 

I feel like anything has to be better then stock even if it isnt 100% efficient

You may be right, I may have over exaggerated just look for a bulb that outputs at least 6000 lumens

 

Why is that?

 

Anything lower and the output isn't as good

 

Funny. Coming from a 1995 Tacoma to me these stock projectors are a 9000% upgrade.

Don’t waste your money on LED bulbs unless you’re planning to do a proper retrofit. They simply do not provide adequate light output compared to HID’s. Yes, you can install a set of HID bulbs in the factory projectors but I’d advise doing a proper retrofit to get the best light output. I personally used RX350 bi-xenon projectors with Morimoto bulbs and ballasts. I’ve been very happy with the overall outcome of the project.

 

See again iv heard and seen from personnel experience people put in LED and have them be much brighter then the stock and project much better with only changing the head lights. and im not trying to drop a ton of money on headlights or voiding any of my electronic warranties on the truck.

No. Not when it comes to LED. Most will be WORSE than stock.

I'm not sure where you're reading about early HID failure or fragility when it comes to off roading...but given you're considering the OPT7, you're already on the wrong path so I won't try and talk you out of it.

In terms of the fragility of HIDS just googled difference between HID and LED and just read the first few pages of google results and it seemed to be a pretty common piece of information across all sites, and the logical step of thinking is if the light is more fragile then you will have more issues if your bouncing around a bunch off roading.

 

You found a bunch of internet falsehoods, IMO.

 

If you already know that you want LED’s then why are you asking us for our opinion? Not trying to sound like a dick but it sounds like Google has told you everything you want to know. I have done many trail rides and have yet to see a single issue with my HIDs...but Google doesn’t tell you that.
