Wait so which one is the OR, that's a limited on the left and a sport on the right. I'm guessing the left is the SR5/Limited grill and the right is the new TRD grill, hmm. Think your slightly confused, the sport one should also be the offroad as well.

Its an update to the grille and some added content in the terms of leather and safety sense. Grille's got changed alot in all gens. 1998, 2001, 2011, 2012. So did content, LEDs in 2009, 2013 got new head units so did 14 and 15, so forth and so forth. Hardly anything significant here or out of the norm for toyota.

I want to see it in perspective, but honestly it dosent look like an improvement, its really open, you can clearly see the radiator and engine bay, from afar I bet it will look similar to a large mouth bass or shark. All they needed to do was de-chrome the current setup. But as others alluded too I bet you the change was to add safety sense to the Tech package and likely the reason for the package shuffle to begin with. Interested to see what the price increase will be for a similar 17 currently. Think it was $500+ bucks when they added the power slider this year. Now leather and JBL standard plus safety sense if you add the premium and tech packs together for 18 to make it similar to a 17 Tech and premium equipped. I for one am glad I have a 17, I despise leather, forcing my hand into that to get JBL and the moonroof would have pissed me off.

Yeah im content with my 17 as well. I like to think im glad to not have the safety sense stuff but i wont be surprised if i take that back one day. I originally wanted leather pretty bad. Was pissed the limited was only one you could get it in. Ive come full circle there. Really like the cloth seats the TRDs come with and honestly think I'd choose it over the leather if given the option today. Price difference will be interesting. Definitely wouldnt want the safety sense for a bunch of coins but guess depends what all it comes with.

I'm not sure how I feel about a metallic black. It's probably shows swirls a lot less, but I've never liked the look of it over solid black.

Except the power band is more in line with a sports car needing to be wound out instead of low end power.

Peak HP was a meaningful number when engines were more-or-less the same--OHV, carbureted, with Kettering ignition systems--and mostly what mattered was displacement.

However with introduction of the now ubiquitous dual OHC, variable valve timing, smaller displacement, buzzy little high-revving engines it has become almost meaningless--it's the engine's output just before you shift and tells you nothing about what was going on up to that point.

Show me the torque curve, then I'll decide whether it's the correct engine for the application I have in mind...

Looks like they took a cue from those of us that blacked out ours. Looks better IMO.
And LOL at the snowflake throwing his tantrum still claiming you have to have disk brakes to tow.
Dude, its a TACOMA!!! If you want to tow get a bigger truck. The drum brakes are rated to handle what the truck is rated to tow, which isn't much. ITS A MIDSIZE!!!
Do you realize class 5-8 trucks are running drums? Do you realize that up into the 90s 1ton duallys had rear drums? I had one. It towed fine.
Sounds to me like your throwing a childish fit because your trying to tow more than your truck is rated for. Ive seen this before. It always ends badly, and its NOT because of a lack of rear disk brakes.

Give him a break, poor guy doesn't know squat about automotive engineering--he just read in Consumer Reports that drum brakes were "old fashioned" and "bad"...

Had a 14 SE 4cyl. Got 36mpgs. Comfortable and I like the black interior, even if the leather was fake. Good car. Traded it in for my taco

My semi has disc brakes the whole way through the tractor and trailer. So much easier to control a stop weighing in at 105,500 lbs. with a 53' tanker of hot asphalt.

Semi is the class 8 I mentioned, but ya, that's why I'm laughing.
