yeah my ultragauge doesnt show anything and i can try and look at what is happening to rpm etc when it happens but i am usually more worried about not getting hit etc

Yeah, speaking of RPM's, my RPM gauge would go from whatever down to ZERO, practically INSTANTLY, when that happened to me. I could literally see it because my cluster gauge on my Dodge had an RPM dial gauge even though it was an automatic, LOL!!! But, anyways...

I was also thinking that if you have quite a bit of "appliances/add-ons" (i.e. stereo system amp, fridge, etc) and have a stock alternator, it's HARD on your charging system when you have all of that on a stock alternator. A while back, I was actually thinking about installing a +2500W Power inverter and was reading that they recommend changing the alternator to a bigger one due to power consumption demanded from the alternator. So, when your truck is running, I BELIEVE your alternator, more or less, takes over at that point while you are driving and the alternator is actually "supplying the power to your vehicle" as well as charging the battery and/or batteries (i.e. dual setup).

 

a better one def would not be the worst thing ever but if its currently working good i wont replace it

 

A buddy of mine was having pretty much the exact same issue. His turned out to be a plugged fuel pump and fuel filter. Might want to look at the simple things. He replaced the fuel pump and fuel filter and it runs like a champ now.

Yeah, I would be the same way right there!!! But, definitely look in on it though as far as start saving up money for a bigger one (i.e. IF you have all of that extra stuff). That way, you're not without a rig if/when the alt decides to dump on you!!!

But yeah, take your rig to some auto place to get a free alt check. It would be a quick thing to do, at least rule that out real quick, and you can move on to the next item on the list that would possibly cause something like that. I'm obviously not saying that what I am suggesting is the number one cause, other than just something that could/would be easily ruled out AS A cause.

Hopefully it in a good spot on the 4.0 it was a pain to change out on my truck. Side of the motor.

 

Put some fuel cleaner in your tank first if you haven't done that yet.

 

My Rodeo in Hawaii had the fuel pump/regulator shit out on me. Same problems He is having sort of. Then one day the damn thing wouldn't turn on.

 

would you use fuel cleaner or seafoam or octane booster?

 

This is the route i went, sucked not having a lift to do it but worth it!
@TPDTaco, if you go this route make you have the tank as empty as possible!

OR remove the bed, IF I remember correctly?. That MIGHT be a SLIGHTLY easier thing to do, but the bed is pretty F'N HEAVY!!! But, then again, I'm pretty F'N WEAK!!! LMAO!!!
