There are more people each day who feel that everyone owes them, and the rules don't apply to them. When places get closed to the public or access is restricted, they or the first to break the rules again. Resulting in more closures and restrictions. It sucks to take your family to a place you've been, and find out its closed because of inconsidered people (idiots).
I'm glad they are people out there helping to keep access to our nature.

They're made in Fairfield, CA. They have a whole store that sells the company's other stuff including "Belly Flops" that are not perfect. Cheap but you get the gross flavors too

I wonder if they would think I'm lame for blasting that woman at Dairy Queen who let her child stand up on the dashboard while she was driving...

Would you recommend against going to Yellowstone in the winter (mid to late December)? I'm not a big fan of crowds and I have to work around when my kids (7 and 10) and wife (works at a school) are on a break. The little research I've done makes it seem a little cumbersome with all the road closures.

Looks like it would be more expensive to go in the winter as well. Everything I find to do in the winter seems to involve an expensive guide. Not sure how much driving I would get to do with the road closures.

From early November to mid April the only road open to vehicles is in the north from mammoth to Cooke city. Everything else requires you to be on a snowmobile or snowcoach tour group. Its definitely less crowded but you can only stop at the preplanned stops and for a set amount of time. If you want to explore on your own you're going to need to brave the crowds during summer
Also Christmas and new years in Yellowstone is a big thing, may have trouble getting reservations at this point.

What's the outlook on the forest fires in MT and ID? Looking at the web cams, in the park, it's looking pretty hazy most of the time. Going to be up there in a month and hoping there is some rain in the forecast to knock the fires out. Looks like I'll be up there around the new moon, so wanting it to be clear so I can get some Milky Way shots! :fingerscrossed:

Not good. New fires in Glacier due to lightning. Today was about as Smokey as we've seen so far.

We just got rain in Bozeman tonight. I'm hoping they got some further west too.

Was pretty clear at high elevations last night (Beartooth Pass) cold too. Went up there to see the Perseids but ended up going straight to bed after dark because it was too cold to sit out without a fire  and it rained for a good 4 hours early this morning and cleared all the smoke out. Keep those fingers crossed for lots of rain and no lightning!
