With my old colmans I went as far as packing them up and ratchet strapping them closed for the ride, then I would keep one cooler with extra ice and keep that strapped shut. I hear you on the have what you might need, but I wouldn't go out of my way or spend extra to get the slots, cause if you have that cooler strapped down, it ain't going any where. When I strapped mine down, I would go though the handles as an insurance so if it moved, the handles would keep it contained.

Mark from Frosty replied to my email. Looking forward to muh new gasket.

    Hi Roger,

We'll send you a new gasket. It will be slightly thicker so it will create more tension on the straps but should be what you are looking for.

    Thanks,
    Mark E.

So why the skinny gasket to begin with?

10-4. But that's why to me it's worth it to spend the extra $40 from the Frosty to the RTIC, but not the extra cash to go from RTIC to Orca. After seeing the way the handles are attached in the prior photos I would rather have the extra security of running them through the cooler so the tension is on that and not the two spot holding the handle on.

Put some water in it and tip it on its face and post the results.

Can you take a picture of the front with the lid closed and post it?

Heading home and will check out both my 45s I ordered.

One thing to note for those of talking about wheeling and strapping down the cooler. With the slots you can strap it down and still open the cooler to use it. Without them you won't be able to open the cooler when it's strapped down.

My 85 is supposed to show up tomorrow. Not sure if anyone else ordered (or received) that size yet, but I'll let ya'll know how it goes.
In either case, thanks to OP and the sales rep for saving us all a few bucks. After all, it's just a cooler. :crapstorm:

as far as the gasket goes, theres a difference between water tight, and air tight. if air doesnt flow freely through the gasket then thats all you need to keep the cool in.
