Isn't the blower motor the same as the late 2nd gen tacos?
Just looking at aftermarket part numbers on RockAuto ....

I'll check there after warranty runs out if I end up replacing the unit.

If that's true, I better get a spare before all the 3rd geners grab them up!

Mine broke 10 or so days ago. Same place. Dealer ordered one from Portland which arrived broken, then somewhere in California...which arrived broken. So here we are 9 days after dropping it off to fix the problem and it's not fixed yet. Worried the replacement will be junk and Ill be back again.

They THINK they are getting the parts in next Thursday. At least they found me a loaner. Base model Tacoma, DBLC V6 4x4. It's bare bones but seems peppier than my OR.

I'm also wondering about the quality of the new part. Did they fix the problem or is it going to happen again in another 12K miles? Really I don't care, plan on getting rid of her by then anyway.

Base model Taco may have smaller tires no mods...yet

I wouldn't worry about the new part breaking yet, wait till & if it happens, mine has been in use for 24k miles and its been on everyone of those miles with either a/c or heat, no issues yet.

    Cheers!

I just had one go out, thankfully I can still run my AC on a lower setting without much issue. A buddy of mine just had his totally shit the bed and he ended up having to have a loaner for a couple weeks. Worst of all, he said the dealer initially tried so skimp out on giving him a loaner because the vehicle still ran.

Mine just went out this morning, 12 hours before a 15 hour drive for my vacation in Colorado.... parts are on backorder.... can't issue a loaner because I'm going out of state. Guess who will be toughing it out....?

    Mine won't run on 1 or 2....
I did find out that I can set it at 1 or 2 to get the compressor running, and at highway speedS (with recirculate turned off) I get JUST enough air through to be bearable

That sounds miserable. Fortunately, I can still run mine at setting 2, otherwise it would be damn near unbearable to drive in Phoenix.

I'm in dallas, and will be driving through west Texas and New Mexico, so I expect it to be pretty rough. My wife is pissed at me that I insist on taking it still. But, it is eithergowithout the fishing boat, or have a party of 7 people with no offroad vehicle AND no 4 wheeler.
And, I e been looking forward to having this truck in Colorado fora year since I bought it.

Sounds like you don't really have much choice. Definitely a shitty thing to have to deal with on such a new truck, especially when A/C is damn near a necessity during the summer down here.

Mine ran on speed 1 and 2 for about a week then crapped out. Really sucks is Dallas rush hour traffic.

Dallas to Colorado is a long ass drive with or without AC. At least at highway speeds you can get a little out of it.

They offered to do the service appointment, officially diagnose the problem and issue a loaner until the parts came in, but I needed the truck for the trip. The guys were super accommodating, even though they weren't able to got the part in time.
They even reminded me to hold off if I had any moisture on the diff so it didn't get snagged for that recall.
We won't need the AC at 11,000 feet, so it's not a vacation breaker.

Just posted on the other thread, replacements are $30 on eBay, sounds like a good idea to buy a spare.

Mine has been squeaking at speeds 1-3. I rarely use it past the 3rd setting. I had the blower fan replaced in my 2008 and 2011 Tacomas, so this one will be getting replaced as well!

I one I was looking at sold for $28.00 now the best price I see is $38.00. Don't know how to link to eBay, I just searched "2016 Tacoma blower". OEM ones are $113 and they apparently suck so $30 or $40 sounds like a plan!
