Not really. Probably just moved the potential failure point somewhere else. :D

HHHMMM, interesting. As I sit here looking at my brand new Moog control arms, I see that the tubes that the bushings press into are seamless tubing. Take that all you people who think OEM control arms are better than Moog control arms.

Disclaimer: I have not yet installed the Moog control arms. I have never run them. I do not know how long they will last.

Please post a picture of that. The seams on the OEM arms are not all that noticeable with bushings in place.

Not from OP's truck and didn't fail completely, but this is how it starts.

My first gen had lower ball joint failure, Toyota ended up recalling the spidle it was defective, so I got a free spindle out of the deal, with 5100 w/ eibachs and dakars.

damn those moog arms look wayyyy beefier.

Also quick question for 4x4 trucks you get the "base model/prerunner" parts right? Also we all learned something interesting today that OEM is NOT always the way to go. Those moog arms are clearly a much better design. I hope toyota will learn from this on the new ones i mean it can't cost much more to do it like that.

I'm pretty bummed for all the possibly deadly accidents this is going to cause in the future :( This almost seems recall worthy at this point honestly.

I certainly do NOT stand behind/defend toyota for overall reliability anymore except for the engine.

Just for the heck of it I measured the wall thickness of those tubes on the Moog arms. It's hard to tell exactly, with the bushings in there, but it appears that the tubes are .150"

Can anybody measure the wall thickness on the OEM arms?

I can order all moog inner and outer tie rods, a complete lower control arm with bushings and ball joint and a complete 4x4 half shaft for under 200$ on rock auto whaattttt this isn't gonna be nearly as expensive as I thought

The picture I posted above was from a truck that hit a rock with the control arm at high speed. Bent the frame mounts and shifted the bushings enough that the wheel was 1.5" further back than prior to the incident. You have to work pretty hard to make these arms fail. Let's not overreact.

Well mine wasn't haha. I haven't offroaded this thing for over a year. and those little tack welds are definitely a joke. This thing gave out when I hit my brakes on the street and couldve caused a very bad accident so i don't think I'm overreacting in the slightest man. just saying I'm not gonna bother defending them/talking them up about reliability anymore like I used to thats all.
