    Hello all.

I've been a major wrench-nut my entire life. I currently own 2 motorcycles, a TAG Kart, and a Skyline GTR I imported when I moved back from Japan.

I'm recently engaged and as part of the merger, agreed to sell off some old project cars and a bunch of parts. My carrot in the deal was buying a nice, newer reliable DD. After considering some sports cars, I decided a truck would help facilitate some out-doorsy hobbies I'd like to get into, allow me to dump my trailer, and allow me to explore a side of motorsports I've never really gotten into: off roading.

So I'm shopping for a Taco! Inevitably I'll become an enthusiast, so I'm signing up to learn and connect with those who know more about the platform that I. Looking forward to it!

    The new Tacoma suck ass!
Problems. Lack of power and so on! Many have said.
If you are a Gearhead then you probably are going to be disappointed.
Not saying you should go look somewhere else but maybe look into the tundra or a 4Runner.
    Good luck!

Welcome to TW!Get a 2nd gen or 1st gen for that matter or wait until the turd gen becomes a third gen.Unfortunate that so many have to deal with the issues of the 16,17 third gen.

not surprised to see some hate here... lots of '16 owners dealing with complaint-worthy issues. i wouldn't get sidetracked by that. just look at the 17's+.

i bought a '17 Pro MT and couldn't be happier. i sold my mt subie, totaled my R32, and passed on Focus RS to get this truck. i sold all my other vehicles and that's saying a lot since I'm am open wheel racing and driving enthusiast, and my vehicle, whatever it is, will be a part of that passion... the driving is what I'm talking about.

now in my Pro I'm having MORE fun than in my subie or vw, and both those cars had many thousands invested in modding. the truck is more fun to drive... I'm a handling nut, and the awesome part is that you can drive a truck like this at the limit all the time and have a blast on your commutes! you can't do that in a sports car. you can't even approach limits in those, so i never had much fun in them.

for me to get here i did the following:
    - SPC uca's for a high caster alignment
    - 17" wheels with a wide offset (0mm in my case)
    - E tires, STMaxx for me
    - Hellwig rear sway bar
    - Crown SS brake lines
    - seat customization
    - Orange Virus ECU tune for the 2GR-FKS (3.5v6)
    - a bunch of other stuff not drive related.

it drives like a big, front heavy, flat aligned E28 M5 in slow motion, and i totally love it. i can throw it around and drive it like a car on the highway and out handle almost every car driver out there.

and i can haul, climb, and basically go anywhere. after totaling my R32 from road debris, i was looking for something tough, and i got it. didn't expect all the fun driving, so i ended up way happier than i even planned.

Glad to hear you're happy with yours!

How much did the tune net you?

I also come from the world of imports. I love my '15 but I've found it rolls and handles like a sailboat. How much did the hellwig rear sway help? I'm considering doing the rear, and upgrading the front...
