So my wife has been driving my truck a bit lately.. she called and said this red light is flashing with a picture of 4 tires and an X.

She's been driving that way for about 30 minutes. She hit the dash RR rear lock but didn't go into 4 or anything. Must have been an accident. Obviously I don't drive around in 4-wheel drive.

Should I be concerned, or did the system never switch over. Everything seems fine. But yeah. Thoughts

    Thanks

lol the caption got me laughing pretty good.

If it flashed but never held, i THINK you're fine. It only holds red when it is locked.

Cut & broke off stuff. Prolific ziptie and tape usage.
If she didn't put it in 4-LO, the dif lock never engaged. Unless you put in some kill switch or override to allow it to lock outside of 4-LO. Or unless they made a 2 wheel drive TRD Off-Road version.

I'm pretty sure you have severe damage now and the only way it can be fixed is with a new mod of some sort....maybe a supercharger if you don't already have one?

They do make 2wd TRD ORs...they are everywhere here in the southwest whereas 4x4s are a minority. Its my understanding that the diff lock on the 2wd model will only engage if you're going under 10mph or something like that.

Haha I'm glad someone got a kick out of the title. Worded very carefully.

And yes I have 4x4. She never switched 4 on, she must have accidentally pushed the dash switch for the lock. It never stayed on, as manual says, only blinking.

When she got home I figured it out and turned it off. Seems fine.

And I didn't know they made TRD OR that aren't 4x4. Whenever I see them in Vegas I just assume they're 4x4 like mine

Yes the only way to fix this is the supercharger, she will understand

Maybe she meant to hit the fogs?
Move the switch further from the fog switch maybe?

    Heres stock i believe
    toy11t35.jpg

I myself hit the wrong button a couple times when it was new.... so i moved it when i ran some extra wires 1 day. Now its (diff lock) on a different level and closer to the steering wheel. U must make a consious effort to hit it.

Also run my fogs on at all times now... kinda makes it even harder to accidentally hit the locker.

Odds are ur fine if it was just blinking, as solid equals locked.

    Heres mine

    In my experience:
No harm done, I have accidentally pressed mine in when cleaning and then drove down the street. It does not engage that easily so your OK.
The TRD OR sticker means the truck has a rear locker it's not necessarily a 4x4. In So Cal most TRD OR's are pre runners with rear lockers. Although there are other options with the TRD OR (Locker)
If it has stock mudflaps that say 4x4 and a TRD OR sticker then it's got the locker and 4x4. Of course you may have taken of the stock 4x mud flaps
