Suggestions on new shoes for the yota

Need new shoes. Any suggestions?

 

New shoes as in tires? Or new shoes as in rims?

I'm guessing tires since you already have some 4runner wheels on there.

 

Just don't get Crocs.

We need more information. What kind of driving do you do? What do your current tires lack that you are looking for in a new tire? Function over fashion, get the tire that will serve at least 80% of your typical driving needs.

I just put a new set of Cooper A/T3s on my Tacoma last month. I had the Cooper A/TWs before that and the Goodyear Duratracs before that. Coopers are a good value but they can be hard to balance, and really all A/T tires can be hard to balance just right. Highway tires tend to be smoother and easier to balance.

If I didn't live in snow country and spent most of my time on the road, I would get Michelin LTX M/S2 without a second thought. They are probably the best tires made and often don't require any weight to balance because they are molded in one piece and are more likely to come balanced straight from the factory. They wear like iron so the extra life you get from them offsets their high price.

I went with the Coopers again because they are a decent value and I've never had any problems with the various sets of Cooper tires I have owned over the years. Sure they may not be the best, but I wanted to see how well they would work as an all-season tire up here in NH. The previous Cooper A/TW tires I had were good in the snow but a little too mushy to run all year.

The Duratracs were pretty good all around but too loud for me on the highway.

 

I just put a set of BFG KO2 265/ 70 R17 on my truck, my work requires me to drive off road a lot and I expect snow. I love they look they give and the ride is smoother than I was expecting. I would however say to get the tire that suits your needs.

 

I grabbed a set of the KO2 BFG in 265/75/16. These are ever-so slightly larger than stock and fit with zero clearance issues on stock suspension. They really give the truck that aggressive look and the traction is unheard of. Saw a drop in MPG once added, but that's going to happen moving up to an LT tire, regardless...though the 3% ratio difference has to contribute, too. I was getting side and shoulder punctures pretty frequently on my first set of 5 stock tires, so when i had to finally buy a new set, I went with something a lot sturdier and harder to pierce. The shoulder armor makes a huge difference in overall durability and off-road handling. Highly recommended if you plan on going off-road much at all. Fantastic snow tire...good mud tire...not loud, either.

 

These tires are incredible, I went wheeling with a group and never got stuck that day. Mind you we were in a foot of snow off road, with 4 lifted Tacomas and t4rs. IIRC I got great fuel mileage and 100k on the set

Tried to get it stuck in some fairly deep mud, couldn't. Went wheeling on green/light blues and only had traction issues once, to be fair the tire wasn't touching the ground and I don't lockers, soooo.

I'm stock on 16" rims and on 265/75R16 with zero rubbing. Overall height of 32.75 if I recall.
