I wonder if there's a negative side to going faster. If I were to take a wild guess, maybe the transfer case would get really hot? No idea. I avoid 3rd when I can but sometimes it's the most convenient thing to do.

just speaking from my experience, which isn't much. for real answers let's see what others say. the only thing on my mind about it is that if you run harder in 4lo you'll really need to keep up with your fluid changes in the t case, which probably most around here do not do properly.

Yeah probably. I recently changed both diffs, transfer and tranny oil when I bought the truck, and you could tell it had never been changed in it's life with 168k on the clock.

Nooooo, that'd be utterly insane. I sold the 2015 and ended up getting a 2005.

hah yeah I agree. I see now. I thought the sold in your details to the left under your avatar meant for the 2005 then you had a 2015. That makes more sense now.

agreed, oh well. I'm sure it's easier on the wallet going to an older one. I had considered going back to a 2nd gen like my 11. Some days I miss that old truck. Took a beating and kept asking for more.

I sold the '15 because it was my DD, and I was moving to MD where I'd have a 30 mile commute in traffic, and I couldn't deal with the MT+traffic and the horrible MPG from my mods. Ended up trading it for a 2015 Subaru Legacy, but just couldn't stay away. 8 months later I bought the '05 as a second car for camping and wheeling, and I love it! So it's not really easier on the wallet, but it's a hell of a lot of fun.

I wonder about this too. With the 3rd gen having less torque at low rpm's, I could see myself spending a lot more time in 4lo on trails.

Sounds like a good idea to me. I always liked the way the AC looked. Got a DC myself since we normally camp with 2 dogs and we now have a little one. Honestly though I could get by with a AC because me and the ol lady commute together since her job is on the way to mine. She has a Rav4 so there's actually more room in the back seat for the kid than my DC

yah i imagine its stressful for the trans case/ bolts/ trans mouont/ crossmember but it looks pretty beefy where the mount meets the trans. i wouldnt be totally suprised if something happend like a sheared bolt or cracked case or bent mount. im not going to go nuts on the thing though till i get the motor mounts done so im not worried about it. ive ran solid mounts in cars before.

i actually have a set of new trans and motor mounts to make a fixture from...and make serious mounts. this one trans mount was just some spare time i had and i threw it together. i got backups if i need.

The back seats of the AC aren't as uncomfortable as most try to make them seem. I'm 5'11,5 and fit and feel fine if I spread my legs open a little bit. If the driver and/or front passenger are assholes and push the front seats back really far then there will be problems for the jump seat occupants.

    Mostly stuff I built.
How are the vibrations with it completely solid?

I have mine poured full of 80a polyurethane and it really helped to stiffen up the mount. The he vibrations aren't bad with it done that way.

25-30 is as fast as I usually go in 4 Lo, and that could be 4th in some rigs. I've had 2 Fords, 2 Chevs, 3 Cherokees, 2 original (67-71) Broncos, one '83 Land Cruiser and this one '16 Tacoma, all MT. YMMV. All of these rigs went past 200,000 except the new one.

I asked someone else who seems very knowledgable on the subject, and he said it won't cause any damage to the transfer case, and to go as fast as the truck will go. I don't plan on that, but it's good to know I'm not hurting anything in 3rd or 4th gear.

i can feel the motor more for sure. its not anything crazy though because its obvioulsy not a v8 shaking the truck around. i dont mind it if that helps at all.
