Why do you need a garage?

So I have a place to paint it without a bunch of dust and bugs getting on it

Unless you are in a freshly power washed garage with a very high end sealed air filtration system like a paint shop, a garage isn't going to be all that much more ideal than going out into a field with shade.

In a garage the door would still be open so bugs and dust will be flowing in anyways.

I think you should rattle can it

The main problem is I live in a apartment complex. Don't have a place to do it. Otherwise I would've done it when I got them put on lol

I've painted a few cars so far in my life. Yes, you want a clean garage if at all possible to use as a paint booth. I remove the top panel from the door and tape in a heavy mil sheet of plastic. Then cut out holes for a few box fans (I use 3). The make up air comes in through a standard "man" door filtered with furnace filters. A window will serve the same purpose. You can also use a portable car garage if you're willing to cut a few holes in it for the fans and filters.
