This is actually recycling nonsense as all u said is u spoke to someone and they said u could do it. Haha but u have no name, no facts why it works, and nothing to back it up besides 28000 posts. More time on here than working on the truck.

Dude ur a joke. U still can't back it up so u keep going with spam. I'm done here as this loser if filling up this forum with junk and gay pics.
Until u come up with something to help these people out u should really stop commenting on every damn post on the forum. It's people like u that ruin it for people trying to learn. U have had nothing but forum troll things to say

Not at all defending that other dude, but longer springs or stiffer springs will have the same effect on ride quality as preload would, that being a little stiffer of a ride and some lift with the benefit of not changing the travel of the shock at all. Preload limits shock down-travel while a longer or stiffer spring gives you a firmer ride and the lift you want without limiting shock travel in any way. @ktmslado

I made 1/2 aluminum top plate spacers for my Toytecs and extended my Superbumps to accomodate. Reduces uptravel but gives you the clearance and softer ride with less preload.

Spring rate and length are 2 different topics @stevotivo12
Talking about keeping the collar in the same spot. A long spring with the same rate will ride harsher cause its compressed more. Back the collar off 1inch of preload and ur at the exact same thing u started at. Same ride height. Same ride quality. Just a longer spring. Not sure what why this is becoming a problem.

Lord knowitall still can't give any answer to help out with this.
So not to help me cause I already get it, but maybe to help everyone else that now has to stumble on this thread and give them an answer cause there is nothing explaining why he's going to get more lift with a longer spring with same rate and the collar moved upwards an inch

Okay in that scenario you're going to get the lift AND ride you want (the one you cranked down the coils to get), without having to crank down on the collar and reduce your shocks uptravel. My original post I thought he was talking about leaving the collar in the same spot as he got it and installing either longer or stiffer springs but the same still holds true. Coilovers are designed to work with the shock hitting full extension and compression, but cranking down the collar moves the shock up in it's travel sacrificing the uptravel it was designed to have. For most this is negligible difference but if you're jumping the truck a lot or wheeling a lot then you need that uptravel for landings and off camber stuff or you'll be bottoming out shocks or worse, blowing them up.
