Can you go through the timing of the marks again? I.e. did they all appear at once, one at a time over a period of a few days, what was going on with the truck as they appeared (dealer, parked, etc)

    I'm confused

Would it be hot enough to also fuck up the leather on the shift boot?

I think it would although Ive never tried it. Those cage lights can burn your hand so cheap leather or faux leather wouldnt stand a chance

    those marks are friggin odd

I am gonna have to go with acetone or other solvent on something that was laid down there

high intensity lasers plausible but it would take a steady hand

don't agree with droplight as the marks go across the edges, droplight
    wouldn't do that

High heel patterns don't travel in such straight patterns. Ask me how I know.

Op. Did you transport your truck through a wormhole recently? If so, I have bad news. It's been known since 95 that the wormhole is actually hell, and the vessel comes back possessed, this will not be covered.

    LS1 swap with nitros.
Finally a solid good idea. Pull the console and see if 1. there is anything underneath that may be causing this, and 2. are the lines also visible on the underside of the plastic? This will help you 100000x more at the dealer if you can show probable cause other than then claiming "you damaged it".

I also do not feel it is any type of liquid, as you would not have such nice crisp lines.

    Good Luck, Eh.

I think we have a winner with the dealership and metal drop light cage being hot, the mechanics not paying attention and left a drop light there and it burned it up.

It's not a "live" wire. A wire laying there would have to directly short and get cherry red to do that kind of damage. The OP said the marks are deep. They do appear that way in the picture. I don't think a drop light cage would get that hot enough to melt the painted plastics either. Plus I've worked in car dealerships for several years and any damage like that you wouldbt be able to get away with. Not sure anyone would attempt to pass that off and say it was like that before they started working on it. Still not completely off the dog theory. Perhaps he jumped in for a second when the door was opened thinking he could go for a ride?

I still think we need some better pictures to try and figure this out
