I want to purchase a fire extinguisher to keep in my Taco. Looking at the Amerex B410T, 2.5lb Purple K Chemical Class BC on Amazon and wondering if anyone has insight on how these things handle long term storage in a car with 100 degree swing in temps from winter to summer? Park City winter to Moab in the summer, and everything in between...

Amerex is the best...better than Badger or General Fire....storage temp is 65F to 120F...how do I know? My father was one of the founders for that company..He and a group of others from General Fire Extinguisher formed the company in Trussville, Ala....I was raised learning a lot of things during summers when high school was out and during college.....Pull the trigger on the Amerex B410T, 2.5lb......it is a good product

I'm a fireman and for a while we had a side business doing fire extinguisher inspection and repair at the station.

Hot, cold, inside or outside... doesn't matter, so don't worry about that.

Fire extinguishers with plastic nozzles can't be serviced and are essentially trash after 5 years. Try to stay away from them.

Once a month, just check the pressure gauge and make sure it is in the green. Once a year, simply take the extinguisher and shake it up, or hit the bottom of it with a rubber mallet. If you put it to your ear and invert it, you'll be able to hear the powder shift inside. Every 5 years, it needs to be hydro-tested.

Do these things and it'll last forever.

Cheaper to buy a new one than to hydro test usually
If that fuckers in the green rock it out.

If my Turd gen catches fire you actually think I want to extinguish the flames?

I carry the same one - only mine is red.

Dry chemicals are very corrosive, very difficult to clean up afterward.

The extinguisher you are looking at is a BC class. You want an ABC extinguisher. Or at least a class A

:rofl:I carry gas in mine in case it catches fire!...Oh wait a minute that's just the gas tank.:facepalm:But seriously folks, if mine were to catch fire the last thing I would want is for someone to put the flames out before it was a total wreck!
