What tent you looking at

 

My one buddies wife was so addicted, she started selling. They are both teachers, and she is making enough now that he quit his summer job doing roofs.

 

My sister is a consultant/seller. She is the one that is hosting the party. Wifey just buys.... (edit) and buys.... and buys...

The North Face Stormbreak 2. I like the vestibule and door setup. And the price isn't bad. It's a tad heavy for a 2-person tent. But not bad for car camping for me and the pup for weekend adventures. I'll keep the Kodiak Flex-Bow canvas tent for long events like Overland Expo and Appalachian Toyota Roundup, and for cold weather camping.

I had a decent 3-person Eureka but sold it for a 4-seaon Alps Engineering. Then I sold that when I bought the Tacoma and got a RTT. I'm going full circle on my camping gear.

Wheeler's is recommending the Bilstein 5125 instead of the B110 because of the length of the B110 and needing bump stop modification to prevent destroying the B110 by bottoming them out. Does anyone here have the Bilstein 5125?

 

B110's work well with a shackle flip & modded bumps. I've had that setup for years.

 

Seems the B110 has the most travel out of the 5125 and 5160. I have no idea what a shackle flip is and modded bump stops. Educate me please.

In a nutshell, just changing the length of the shocks will not give you additional suspension travel. You need to alter the travel of the leaf springs. The way to do that is by changing the rear shackle mounts to flip them. When you do this you need to also lengthen the brake lines. And by changing the bump stops you end up limiting the amount that the longer travel shocks can compress therefore preventing them bottoming out.
There are tons of threads on the subject and I would highly suggest if you're looking to alter your rear suspension to perform better off road that you do some research before just buying shocks.
