But when you consider that the vast majority of owners never take their trucks off-road (and Toyota knows this) then you know that off-roading isn't the reason they put them on the trucks. Somehow this became a debate about rear drums (I think it was DB Chile Verde) when the point I was originally trying to make was that given the choice today between Colorado & Tacoma, the Tacoma has gotten stale while the Colorado offers a lot more for the money. The Yota is more reliable and better looking, but for ~$45K Toyota gets you the same rear drums, underpowered engine, less safety tech, less luxury, frames prone to rust/rot and crappy leaf springs for the price of a full-size truck.

It would be nice if rear disks were at least an upgrade option.

Enough about drum brakes. Any more updates on the 2018?

Toyota has been buying back Trucks or replacing frames. Good luck with Ford ever doing something like that. Fords also have their fair share of problems. Good luck.

All this talk about drum brakes is strange to me. everybody says that they put them on our trucks because they are cheaper to produce and install. I say show me the proof on that. Drum brakes are not produced in the volumes that disks are, plus they have more moving parts (and parts in general) both of these things lend themselves to a higher cost rather than a lower cost.

I think that your real issues with them has nothing to do with cost or effectiveness, but rather that they aren't "cool".

As for effectiveness my OR will practically stand on it's front bumper in an emergency stop and it has never once felt like the rears were going to pass up the fronts. I have safely avoided two deer (giant vermin) and one idiot in a Prius that I am pretty sure I would have hit in my '99 S-10 and absolutely would have hit in my '69 VW bus.

OK, so I don't have cool looking rear disc brakes...I could give a rats pittutie as long as they keep me safe,,,and these do.

Power seats? I chuckle every time I hear this. My first car was a 1983 Chevy Monte Carlo with power seats. Here we are in 2017 and Toyota has yet to figure out how to put them in a Tacoma.... LOL

Same, unless it comes with the new leather in the premium package. I'm willing to be not though.
